Hope the new vinyl reissue of "All Things Must Pass" replicates the original set's gold-foil lettering on the spine and the clear, apple-shaped hype sticker that went on the shrinkwrap. I believe the RSD reissue from a few years back had those features.

Yeah, okay, well, the TT don't mind. It'll play, you know, whatever you want it to play. Or it won't play at all if you don't want it to play, you know. Whatever it is that'll please you, It'll do it.

Why do you say it is running fast - just your feel from listening to it? It actually does seem to play in D, although perhaps it plays just a tad sharp (or my piano is out of tune), so if there is an adjustment it's a pretty slight one. I doubt they would have recorded a song in D flat, so you'd have to drop it to C which would make it very different sounding.

If you want the turntable to play a McCartney record it will. If you don't want it to play a McCartney record it won't. Whatever it is that will please you, it will do.

Those kinds of buyers will need a George Harrison phono amp as well.

No, it's not overly drastic, but it's noticeably sharp (about half a semi-tone).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't the word "transfer" imply a digital step? It seemed the case from the start, but I would say that confirms it.

Do we have any further info on this 'limited edition' ATMP stand-alone reissue? Will there simply be a standard reissue?

I'm yet to get into George's solo work, outside of the compilation a few years back, but don't actually own anything physical. Figure this album would be a good start? No way I can afford to drop so much on a boxset when I'm so unfamiliar with the music.

Edit: Just noticed it listed on Amazon UK for £106.99. Ouch.

I'm a Beatle fan that never ventured much into any of their solo stuff except for hit comps. One exception, I did buy ATMP on cd years ago. It's essential, it really is. It's basically a double LP with a third LP I rarely go back to, those jams are pretty dire. But the main two lp's are really really good. Whether you buy the pricey vinyl or just check out a stream online, it's excellent stuff.

Paul Hicks, Gavin Lurssen, not sure who the third name is.

Acetates cut: Ron McMaster at Capitol Records, Los Angeles

I think we can ascertain that these are digital cuts.

Haha yeah in 16 years it has yet to do a thing for me. Johnnys birthday is a fun novelty but not enough to play the whole jam.

Funny enough, I love the whole Apple Jam disc with the exception of Johnnys Birthday!

I noticed today all of George's music is available for streaming. It certainly wasn't a few years ago when I was first interested in checking out more. Tempted to give ATMP a listen, but with albums as well regarded as this I like to wait until I can own a physical copy, so I can sit back and properly immerse myself in the music.

To be honest, my knowledge of George's albums is severely lacking. I know ATMP is considered a classic, I understand Cloud Nine is a well-regarded return to form. As for everything else I'm ashamed to admit I just don't know much besides the titles.

Best of Dark Horse, 1989 is an excellent comp including some non-album tracks, a great place to start :)
