    Air doesn't have a female vocalist. It's 2 guys...

    You all missed this one.

and it's a whole album full of that, too.

Yes, sounds remarkably like Madonna and Delerium.

Dot Allison's own debut was pretty great too, as was this opener from the Contino Sessions by Death In Vegas ... though I guess some of our picks are straying a bit from the OP's guidelines :)

Davey, good call on Death In Vegas.

A good friend's son is the leader of a North Carolina-based band called Body Games, and most songs feature female voice, and I think they fit the requirements of the thread. So, shameless plug time:

Ladytron are excellent. Their 605 album is my favourite I have heard. The single from it, Playgirl, should have been huge, but sadly wasn't.

    I absolutely love this record!

Another vote for FKA Twigs, and another for Laika.

Can't believe Björk hasn't been mentioned yet.

I loves me some Dot Allison and One Dove! I find her very easy on the eyes, as well. Unfortunately so did someone else... first. xD

Her more recent Pioneers album was a nice return to electronic form:

I hadn't seen any mention of that Pioneers download before, so thanks, I'll check it out, looks like it's on all the music streaming sites. I followed her up through the one she recorded with Kramer, which wasn't great but had some good atmosphere. Looks like I also have the distinction of creating the only Dot Allison thread on SHTV, and it got no responses, oh well, guess you must not have been around here yet. Back in those days it was classic rock or go fish :)

Any Dot Allison and/or trip-hop fans out there? »

The Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith EARS record last year is pretty cool, below the opener "First Flight" ...

Someone already mentioned it, that this forum can force you to some expenses and it's true ;-) Just reading this thread I've ordered Roisin LP+CD album Hairless Toys.

Jane Weaver's album from a couple of years ago, The Silver Globe, is sublime in a krautrocky stylee. Well worth checking out if you haven't heard it.

Also Joesphine Orr's latest is also top notch.

Features on a few tracks on their first album, doesn't subsequently. The Air guys did co-write/play/produce a whole album for Charlotte Gainsbourg though - 5:55. Less electronic and more instrumental, mind. Good album, considerably stronger than their own effort the same year (Pocket Symphony).

Had I know of her and SHTV at that point, I would certainly have posted! At that point I'd say I had visited the forum a time or two, and I was only beginning to understand why some of my CDs sounded so bad. I became a regular lurker a few years later and then became a regular around '09. I had not been aware of Dot Allison or One Dove at all until 2012 or 2013 or so.

After looking for more albums like DJ Shadow's Endtroducing.. I saw Afterglow in a list of recommended albums with a strong review, which led to listening to some samples on YouTube and I liked it so much I ordered the CD. That led to me buying Morning Dove White and my mind was just blown how good that album was, how it was a shame they didn't last and what a crime it was they didn't get more attention in the US. That in turn led to me searching out some of their influences such as Primal Scream and King Tubby.

Needless to say I've since bought about all of Dot Allison's catalog and One Dove's as well, included the vinyl album and single releases. I particularly like the Rank Outsiders Mix of "Why Don't You Take Me" which fuses spacey dub with pop in a manner that is just jaw-dropping good.
