I have been experimenting with cleaning old, cheap records with white vinegar and water. I found this solution did just as good a job of removing dirt as my Disk Doctor cleaning solution without leaving as much residue. Before I try it on more expensive records, I thought I'd make sure there is no down side. Does anyone know if there is anything in vinegar that could damage the vinyl?

I 0nly use a few drops (white vinegar) with VPI cleaner 8oz followed by a Disc Doctor cleaning follow by 2 yes 2 rinses> you should be fine...been doing this for years. After adding (white vinegar) to the VPI mix records come out so clean you can see your face in them!
