I'd say their best is Fire Of Unknown Origin, although the first 3 are great. I've yet to hear a good mastering of FOUO which is a cryin' shame.

I've liked every tune on it since I first heard it in 1976. Still do. I think for the ten year period between 1976 and 1986 I played it more often than any one single Lp. One album I don't skip through.

    Different strokes.

My favorite song on Agents is "The Revenge of Vera Gemini." My opinion might be biased and nonobjective, but I think it's a great song.

My ranking of the studio albums................

    1. Secret Treaties
    2. Tyranny & Mutation
    3. 1st album
    --------slight dropoff---------
    4. Agents of Fortune
    5. Cultosaurus
    6. Fire of Unknown Origin
    --------slight dropoff---------
    7. Mirrors....................(I like this more than most)
    8. Specters..................(I'm probably in the minority that I never warmed up to this one)
    --------huge dropoff---------
    9. Revolution By Night
    10. Imaginos
    11. Club Ninja

(Never got around to Heaven Forbid)

    Good top 10.
Heaven Forbid is a good album, but not in their top 10 in my opinion.

It's become my fave over the years. Prior to that the 1st one was my go-to Cult album but now it's Heaven Forbid.

If you mean the original US Columbia CD pressing, it's the best available but way too thin and tinny sounding.

From another Cilt thread I ranked their studio albums on a scale of 1-10 this way, by order of release date:

    Blue Oyster Cult - 10
    Tyranny and Mutation - 5
    Secret Treaties - 10
    Agents of Fortune - 2
    Spectres - 2
    Mirrors - 4
    Cultösaurus Erectus - 9
Fire of Unknown Origin - 8
    The Revolution by Night- 1
    Club Ninja - 3
Imaginos - 3 (again this is not really a BÖC album)
    Cult Classic - 10
    Heaven Forbid - 10
Curse of the Hidden Mirror- 7

    No I mean the LP.
Maybe you are too young, but the album sounds very good.
Martin Birch was the producer so the album sounded punchy and dynamic.( 1st pressing)
Have you check out the Columbia CD box set version?

"The Revenge of Vera Gemini" is really good. That has Patti Smith on backing vocals, right? I've always had a soft spot for "Debbie Denise", too. Agents is better than I gave it credit for. The Lanier tunes are pretty bad, though.

She shares Lead vox with Albert Bouchard.
    great song.
True Confessions could have been replace with "Sally" and I think it would have been a stronger album.

Heaven Forbid seems to get a lot of positive comments on this forum. Maybe I need to check that one out.
