While browsing Google Images for Beatles stuff I found this Golden Greatest Hits cassette from Sweden released in 1979. That's one of the laziest covers I've ever seen on a compilation. Couldn't they have picked a better photo?

There's a Scandinavian LP release with the same title and track listing but a different cover.

The Beatles - Golden Greatest Hits

The track listing is kind of scattered with some odd choices. Here it is:

    Tracklist
    A1 Twist And Shout 2:32
    A2 Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da 3:07
    A3 Ticket To Ride 3:04
    A4 Let It Be 3:48
    A5 Paperback Writer 2:21
    A6 Penny Lane 2:56
    A7 Day Tripper 2:49
A8 All You Need Is Love 3:38
    B1 Help! 2:16
    B2 Lady Madonna 2:14
    B3 Yesterday 2:03
B4 We Can Work It Out 2:12
    B5 Hey Jude 7:06
B6 Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band 2:08
B7 With A Little Help From My Friends 2:35
B8 Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds

I have never seen this before. It seems to be an odd selection of songs.

Yeah, it's like they drew random song titles out of a hat!

A compilation which has a Ringo vocal but no George vocal! Such a strange collection of songs

Oh wow, I didn't even notice that but good catch! I'm surprised it really favors the later songs so much.

I prefer the Swedish record club artwork (which I own as an LP) to the alternative with the directors chairs, which I believe was issued in Denmark and Germany.

The Australian single lp compilation "The Essential Beatles" has 3 Ringo songs, and only 1 George. It also has 3 cover songs. Now that's a strange collection of songs!

No greatest hits comp should include Ob La
    Di. Odd choices for sure.

Where else do you get With A Little Help From My Friends WITHOUT Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band preceding it?

The lazy cover is that linked version with the chairs! I quite like the "mad day out" photo series, and this particular shot is not one of the over-used frames. Besides the font treatment, I have no issue with this cover. The track listing and order is a where the real trouble is.

They could have at least picked a better photo from that photo sessions!

I think we're all so used to the chronological setup of the Red & Blue packages that anything else feels odd & jagged. But there are comps out there that mix the "Please Please Me" days with the "Abbey Road" in Kami-Kaze fashion. That cassette is but one.

Yeah and some even mix in solo Beatles hits.

"Alpha Omega" was but the boldest and most ambitious.

Alpha Omega managed to choose the worst song to close a Beatles compilation, "Everybody's Trying to Be My Baby".

Love hippie era Beatles pics. They looked cool. Flower power and freedom. In the real world, they went on each other's nerves and tried to control each other. :p

And where do you get Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band without 'Friends' following it ?

Why, on the French 1978 single of same ! Pathé Marconi Heads scratched theirs as they wondered why this two-minute single wasn't a huge seller -'I mean, after all, we put 'Within You, Without You' on the flip!'

It is a strange collection, but what many people don't realise is that only one track, "With A Little Help...", failed to make the top 3 on the Aussie singles charts...

    1. Love Me Do - #1
    2. Boys - #2 (Requests EP)
    3. Long Tall Sally - #2 (Requests EP)
    4. Honey Don't - #1
    5. P.S. I Love You - #1 (All My Loving EP)
    6. Baby You're A Rich Man - #1
    7. All My Loving - #1 (All My Loving EP)
    8. Yesterday - #3
    9. Penny Lane - #1

    1. Magical Mystery Tour - #2
    2. Norwegian Wood (This Bird Has Flown) - #1
    3. With A Little Help From My Friends - N/A
    4. All You Need Is Love - #1
    5. Something - #1
    6. Ob-La-Di, Ob-La-Da - #1
    7. Let It Be - #1

IMHO a great album let down by poor track sources (ie vinyl and dubs of dubs) and poor mastering (ie wow/flutter, reversed channels, slow speed).

I've always thought this would make an excellent LP cover:

Funny hats, enjoying sandwiches, cameras at the ready...all seem to say "let's rock!"

I'm still working out the meaning and significance of the hats. George with policeman's cap -- mystically policing our beliefs and morals...Paul in beret blazing trails of stylin' cool...Ringo as Napoleon? The emperor behind the scenes? John as fuddy-duddy tourist codger. All ready to blast off on a one-way acid trip to kicksville? Maybe. And all having just had a bite out of a tasty baguette sandwich, encouraging us to just let go and take a bite out of life, the bread of life, I am the life and the bread, cast your bread on many waters...something like that?

It could have gone great on Magical Mystery Tour if the bus had toured France and it was retitled Magical Mystery Tourist in France with The Beatles.
