I wish I could find those 2 CDs, But I've never seen them.
Hate to think what they'd go for.

I was surprised to spot, for $8 each, both volumes of the Atlantic Greatest Hits CDs, in a record shop today, volume one Made in the USA, and volume two being the West German target. I almost bought the target, but somebody was kind enough to write their name, address, etc., all over the booklet and the disc face itself, so I passed.

I was surprised to the Volume One as a made in the USA disc, as I thought these discs were pretty well phased out by the time WEA was manufacturing in America.

I sold both sets last week on ebay. They are available on Discogs from time to time.

Is "The Name of the game" the single edit or the longer LP version?

On the UK 5 LP box set, the full version is included without any distortion.

I have volume one. It was made by Sanyo in the USA. I was surprised to see it in the UK, but it appears to have been legitimately imported back in the day because it has a MCPS license sticker on the back of the CD case.

I am sure he is talking about the bad job, adding the intro the song. No edit is perfect.

Wasn't that rectified with the Voulez-Vous deluxe version?

Yeah, it literally takes a five-second fix with Audacity to make it sound right. XD

There is an unnatural gap between the intro and the song itself.

I just thought they remastered the full version for that specific deluxe version, since the TYFTM box only tagged the intro on to the edited version.

Well, I looked at the deluxe file in Audacity, and while there is a little gap in one of the channels, there is no gap in the other channel. I also cannot hear a gap.

And a comparison: The bottom two channels are from the TYFTM disc 2 whereas the top two channels are from the VV deluxe. It looks like they cut a little too much for the VV deluxe version in the attempt to completely remove the gap:

Other than that the two versions look very similar - 1994 vs. 2010:

Sure, on the VV-Deluxe, you can't hear the gap...but it is there. There is no full-length-version available to create a new mastering from it. That intro was cut from the original tape.

It is still a digital edit on the VV Deluxe. There is total silence in the small gap and they simply re-edited the TYFTM version.

So how do you fix it?

I got the Atlantic Super Trouper for $6 at a Montreal used record store a few months ago. Sounds smooth but my one complaint is the same I had for many early CDs I heard in general, the sound seems kind of "small", as if the speakers I'm listening to are half the size. My brother was playing it many times on his own stereo system, and he likes the sound.

I realise I’m a bit late to this party, but I had to create an account here just to say thank you for these recommendations! I bought the CD mentioned on discogs, having not be able to properly listen to the deluxe version CDs of the Album and Arrival that I bought years ago, or anything on the popular streaming services, because the sound is so bad.

I bought the Album’s Abbey Road half-speed mastered vinyl and that sounds as bad, so I presumed that I’d just imagined it all sounding so good back in the day.

But no! The 1992 ABBA collection is a revelation. The last time they sounded so good was when I bought the original UK 7”s from Woolworths back when they were first released (except I was only 4 at the time so probably didn’t realise what I had)

    Thanks again!

So...are the deluxe releases with the dvd's 24bit?
I have these and the Japanese mini SHM-CD's
Also.."Thank you for the music" box set and the 2001 releases with bonus tracks?
    Are these 24bit?
or do I have to track down the 1997 releases? Thank you from Australia.

c-eling They're made of light,We never would have guessed

Compact discs can't carry 24 bit as part of the redbook standard.
Those that the OP posted are counterfeits.
Most remasters today are probably done in the 24/32 bit domain and dithered down to 16 for compact disc releases
