I'm just wrapping up my 2nd go-round and I enjoyed it perhaps even more this time. As others have pointed out, it gets very violent at times, full of secrets and betrayals. Also, it is hard at times keeping track of all the characters names and their gang affiliations.

Pretty much all of the bikers are dirt bags who should be behind bars. Big gripes with the show are the complete absence of any competent law enforcement, or innocent bystanders getting hurt when shootings occur or any civillian witnesses willing to testify against the club. Don't recall the inside of a courtroom ever being shown.

Lots of actors from Deadwood make appearances throughout the shows run. Highly recommended if you're not skittish about off-color language, subjects, and lots of violence.

In regard to this show, I'm aligned here with this poster.

I'll add -- I feel the writers knew the writing was getting a bit sloppy/redundant, so the distraction became "Let's just gratuitously ramp up the graphic violence."

If Ron Pearlman is in it, it is worth checking out.

I find those History Channel Gangland episodes on real 1%er motorcycle clubs more interesting. It's just they have to let you know such and such club is more dangerous than all the rest. It seems they do it every episode.

I just finished watching the final season and Charming's police chief gets shot, two other police officers are shot (one of them dies), then there is massacre at the escort club. In any real world location there would be a police crack down on that many officers and civilians getting shot. Also the news media would have more involved with such a loss of life. Instead the law enforcement on SOA seems to have this attitude of "we don't have any leads on what happened".

Not the most realistic show sometimes...

The one I remember is the funeral for one of the Sons where a rival gang pulls up in a van and starts firing multiple machine guns into a large crowd and also kills a cop and ONE kid (based on the crowd and firepower, at least 20 people should have bought it). I don't think this event ever resulted in anyone going to trial or even to jail. It probably made the second page of the local newspaper.

It's a show about bad people doing bad stuff. There isn't anything redeeming about it whatsoever. Is it worth wasting your time watching it? No. Is it entertaining? YES!

Started well. First three or four series were excellent. Went downhill when it went to Ireland. Ron Perlman is always worth watching. The less said about the end the better.

One of the best crime series I've seen along with The Shield and Justified but I can see where my friend in law enforcement is coming from that he hates SOA cause it portrays bikers as much more likable than they are in real life.

I really like the Australian series Underbelly. It's pretty an Australian SOA except it's based on real stuff. More realistic than SOA.

Underbelly is great - Carlton is where I went to university. One of my neighbours went to the same school as Alphonse Gangitano and said he was dangerous at 14.

First three seasons are great. After that it goes from ok to absolute garbage with each subsequent season.

Sutter's refusal to kill off a certain major character until long after they had stopped being useful to the storyline seriously hindered the show's ability to achieve its former level of greatness.

It's biker code. Anarchy led me to a life of debauchery. If I'd only followed your golden path of life.

I've only seen the first 3 seasons. My library has them. The others aren't available in North America to watch or buy. Hopefully that changes sometime.

Yea its really good, though every time I hear of bike charity runs now all I think is, they are moving guns and drugs now. I dunno if its close to reality but I know I aint talking no crap to people in bike clubs. I really hated season 7 as how can I say it not spoiling it. I cant but anyways, its like most shows the first 3 seasons are a pretty cohesive story that gets all tied up at the end of s3 and then its like a reboot in someways

also agree with katy singing really detracts from this plus OMG her TO SIR WIT LOVE episode is so ridiculous her singing it. Plus they have to ability to take certain songs and change them into 12 minute ending sequences. John the Revlator at the end of S1 is a great use of music though

also CLAY is much more believable leader than JAX ever was

Everyone's taste is different but for me I loved the first two seasons but pretty much lost interest after that. When I first started watching it I couldn't wait for next weeks episode. By the second or third episode of season 3 I was scanning episodes on the pvr and then I just stopped watching.

The wifeie on the other hand was totally hooked on it. That's how she learned to set up recordings on the pvr lol. YMMV

I couldn't watch the whole series. I only made it as far as the season with Henry Rollins. It felt a little too soap opera-ish and formulaic.

Watched the last 5 minutes of the show on YouTube, though.
