You know who is playing guitar??? Sounds like they have been playing the Blues all their life!

If one believes The Meters are backing Mr. Holmes (as I do), then it's Leo Nocintelli. He's an excellent guitarist, but he's known for playing Funk and R&B. I do believe he's been playing for close to 50 years at this point and continues to tour with a version of The Meters.

Today LP: Folk Festval Of The Blues on the Argo Label. Specifically Wee Wee Baby with Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy. Eric Clapton said that this song was touch stone to him in developing his guitar style.

Today CD: both Rhino Compilstions of Elmore James: The History Of Elmore James & Blues Masters: The Very Best of Elmore James.

Tomorrow I going to dig into the Elmore James, Flair & Capricorn box sets.

    I love Elmore James.

I was listening to some live Freddie King - something new to me, from a really nice needle drop.

Washington Phillips and his Manzerene Dreams. wow. I had a cassette of his work from many years ago but bought this new cd after someone mentioned it on the forum here. Just buy it now. The whole package is a superb piece of music archeology and the finest tribute imaginable to the man himself. (er, short of world peace and other important stuff)

I remember when this came out. It had such a mystique and a genuineness about it.

Just came across this band. Some nice ambient, bluesy Americana and Africana going on here.
Shades of Ry Cooder, Ali Farka Toure, Jack White,...
