For those keeping score lol.........my 8,310 song shuffle did pick up where it left off. So I'm in good shape...for now. Next five songs: Streets of San Francisco theme by London Theatre Orchestra French Vanilla Skies by Mighty Mocambos Trav'lin'Light by Billie Holiday Every Rasta is a Star (Acoustic) by Ronnie Davis Atmospher Strut (Club 12" Mix) by Cloud One
T REX - Electric Warrior SACD.....catchy as hell. Definitely one of a kind. "And I think to myself, what a wonderful world" Visconti did an amazing job on this SACD....gave it depth and breath..without messing with it.
Joe McPhee Trio X: First Date Live at the Third Annual Vision Festival - 5/24/98 in NYC McPhee on pocket trumpet, tenor & soprano saxophones Dominic Duval on bass Jay Rosen on drums crunchy rough demanding scintillating improvising
"I managed to learn a few of his runs, and I’d be there warming up on his stuff and Garcia would be saying, ‘Hey man, what’s that run?’ ‘That’s Art Tatum.’ And we’d go over them together. Then we’d be out at the Keystone in the middle of a song, and all of a sudden I’d hear him doing an Art Tatum run, and I’d look over and he’d have this big smile on his face! Man, when Jerry would get on something, he’d keep going with it until he got it. He’d stumble through it at first, but he understood music so well and he had such a good memory that he could eventually get almost anything he tried down. And getting down Art Tatum is not easy – on piano or guitar.” (From Blairjackson.com via LIA.)
Elvis tonight! For LP Fans Only. Elvis sings okay, I guess. Scotty Moore's jazzy electric guitar is a treat, too - it reminds me of the wonderful guys who played for Bill Haley on his rock hits, but then Moore will bust out a rockabilly riff or solo that rocks harder than anything the Comets did.
Q: What guitarists do you admire these days? Garcia: Well, Django Reinhardt is like the model guitarist for me. There is so much passion in his playing, both in terms of invention and expressiveness, and you can feel his attitude, his emotion, in his playing. (BAM interview 1981.)
Yes, we do get older, some faster than others... I still enjoy her new records, she always has a great band/sound and the songs are good. But I don't think I would pay to see her live at this point.
saw her live about 2 years ago, and I cant tell you how great she was.....her band was incredible....
Other than the Band of Gypsies Fillmore release, this is probably my favorite of the live Jimi releases of the last couple decades. Great performance with IMHO his best band lineup.
Thanks, fixed that. Joni of course is excellent but we are still waiting for her Live at Berkeley Album, and probably will be for some time. Anyway, gave a first listen to Childish Gambino's Awaken, My Love last night, fantastic modern day Parliament-Funkadelic style album. I have loved Donald Glover's work as a comedian/writer/actor on Community and Atlanta, but was skeptical of his musical career, just as I would be with any actor/comedian, and hadn't listened to this or his first album before. No more skepticism, this is really great stuff.
Derek and the Doms SACD now........some how it sooths....Erics pain pouring out....funny how that works.
Other than waking up, the best thing to happen to me today is "Sun Green" from Greendale coming up on shuffle. She got busted for pot!
