I like a lot of what I've heard, except Long Cool Woman in a Black Dress.

I have tons of Hollies in my collection, but my interest declines exponentially after Nash's departure and stops completely at 1974.

Love vocal harmonies like Everly Brothers, Simon & Garfunkel, Beach Boys.
Just recently got into The Hollies. Love them.
What took me so long, I'll never know.

I like them. I have a Greatest Hits album but that's it. I grew up hearing their singles on Oldies radio and enjoying them.

My problem with The Hollies is that their material is so varied.

Don't get me wrong, their highlights are stellar!
In comparison, some of their other work is average at best, or trite throwaways (eg. Jennifer Eccles - good disposable pop, but nowhere near their masterpieces).

I have the 30th Anniversary CD set but disc 2 is the only one that gets played. Favorite tracks are Bus Stop & Pay You Back With Interest.

I have the first two "Complete Recordings" sets. Not sure I'll pick up the third, owing to a court order that forbids me from purchasing any song called "Wiggle That Wotsit." For my tastes anyway, the post-Nash years were marked by diminishing returns.

    I like them very much.

I have a lot of the Graham Nash era in a box set, and The Hollies Greatest Hits CD for "Long Cool Woman In A Black Dress," "The Air That I Breathe," etc.

Fanatic up to a point. I've attempted to collect all the various mixes from the 60's output. I basically stop after Distant Light. I've been a fan since I received the 30th Anniversary Collection for Christmas when I was 14 or 15. Even before that I had a Best of on cassette.

Not to mention, Tony Hicks is probably one of the greatest guitarists from this period. He knew how to create great catchy riffs and experimented with various guitars and sounds that make those records stand out. He deserves more credit.

    That's all.

They lacked the cool factor of CSN, from a pop group in the sixties, tbey became a cabaret band in the seventies.

I go up to the 5317704 (the calculator) album and that's the end for me, but even I don't have the pointless 'Sing Dylan' album. I don't recommend the 5317704 album particularly either, I just happened upon an LP clearance bin with it.

I liked them when I was a little kid in the 60s but I haven't liked them since. As I grew up and "rock" kicked in, I found them a little too twee and pop with annoyingly nasal, high-pitched lead vocals. Rather like how I feel about The Beach Boys.

One of their best albums has Mikael Rickfors in place of Allan Clarke, some great stuff on that one. I don't think Graham Nash leaving hurt the band too much either, Terry Sylvester was a very able replacement. I agree that the band was not very good after 1974.
