Tiny Dancer Where To Now Saint Peter Love Song Ballad of a Well-Known Gun Mona Lisas And Mad Hatters Bennie And The Jets Rocket Man Grey Seal Love Lies Bleeding Goodbye
FRIENDS! What a score by Paul Buckmaster!!! The tracks "Honey Roll", "Can I Put You On" and "Michelle's Song" were likewise personal faves from that OST.
Nice to see another #1 for Tower of Babel. I'm always surprised it doesn't get more love. Captain Fantastic is my favorite EJ album so perhaps I'm a bit biased.
Oh yeah, not only my favorite EJ song but one of my favorites by anybody. It usually shows up pretty regularly in threads like this, just not so much this particular time.
Someone Saved My Life Tonight (Should have they?)he he I Feel Like a Bullet (In The Gun of Robert Ford) Funeral For a Friend Grow some funk of your own We all fall in love sometimes Meal ticket Madman across the water (Original version with The Spiders)

Dirty Little Girl ROCKS! As someone who lived and breathed EJ from 1972-1976 it's a song I go back to often these days. Back then we were completely spoiled by the riches of Elton's music, so some of the "lesser" songs occasionally slipped through the cracks. I liked DLG back then, but I LOVE it now. Elton's vocal and piano are stellar. Davy, Dee, and Nigel just NAIL their parts. Bernie's lyrics are witty and humorous. Total winner of a song.
Here are my top 10 songs that were not released as singles (in no particular order). 60 Years On (11/17/70 version) Skyline Pigeon (Empty Sky version) Razor Face Mellow High Flying Bird Have Mercy On The Criminal Grey Seal (GYBR version) Ballad Of Danny Bailey Ticking Captain Fantastic ...and because 10 isn't near enough, here are 10 more! I'll try (in no particular order) Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding Tiny Dancer Come Down In Time Michelle's Song Carla/Etude/Fanfare/Chloe Conquer The Sun Ballad Of Danny Bailey The King Must Die Paris Tinderbox The One that's 11 and I'm not close to being finished
Grow Some Funk (I like Elt tough and rough) Chameleon One Horse Town Pinky Goodbye Yellow Brick Road (listened to it a million times, always sounds fresh and moving) Sweet Painted Ladies Philadelphia Freedom (his best mega-hit) Levon (live versions in the last couple of years just shine) Nice and Slow (he should have completed the Thom Bell album and issue it instead of a Single Man) Crocodile Rock (why not? It's fun fun fun)... (Obviously not his best songs, but currently favourite s of mine)
As for his compilations, you really can't go wrong with the Your Songs compilation that are host mastered back in the 80s. Also that McDonald's compilation from 1994 was pretty good as well, it was called Classic Elton John, it had the longer, alternate Mick Ronson version of Madman Across the Water. Both of these CDs had 10 songs each, and can be found easily in the used bins cheap. Your Songs was also available on vinyl as well.
Funeral for a Friend is easily my favorite. Other than that, not sure I can name 10. Your Song, Levon, Island Girl, Rocket Man come to mind.
01. Madman Across The Water 02. Crazy Water 03. Empty Sky 04. Captain Fantastic And The Brown Dirt Cowboy 05. Goodbye Yellow Brick Road 06. Tiny Dancer 07. Funeral For A Friend/Love Lies Bleeding 08. Candle In The Wind 09. Honky Cat 10. Song For Guy
