Flowers in the Dirt — No coming soon card?

Does the lack of any albums listed as coming soon mean that the reissue program is most likely done? I was disappointed to not see any indication of which album(s) would be reissued next as deluxe editions.

I didn't see a post for this yet, so figured it was worth starting a conversation about.

 

For crying out loud. Has an obvious Macca fan like yourself not been following the mammoth thread that has discussed this for months ad naseum??? Unbelievable.

I see the politeness of the posters, for which this forum is well known, continues!

 

Yeah, c'mon, get on the ball, what on earth have you been doing, maybe you're not a true McCartney fan, that thread is only 640 pages and counting!!!

 

At a certain point there gets to be too much to read though and still hold down a job. Plus, it's not like each posting on a thread is relevant or interesting — case in point.

So, how about we cut to the chase, and you can just come out and say what the deal is.

 

No one knows for sure. Capitol and McCartney haven't announced any details of their comprehensive reissue of McCartney's catalog yet. Seems like more are coming hopefully but what form is in question - downloads, new box sets, smaller sets - who knows?

 

Since all the previous sets had the Coming Soon card, it's concerning that FITD does not. Despite klaatuhf's snarky answer, I thought a specific thread on the issue made sense.

In the thousands of responses in the post that he included, did anybody have any information that sheds light on the future?

 

Paul's manager said that they are working on other albums, and mentioned that 'Red Rose Speedway' and 'Wild Life' are being considered. Due to Paul's label move, and the announcement of a new plan, we don't know what form they will take or whether they will share the archive reissue banner.

What we do know for sure is that people like Laurence Juber have been interviewed, so we can assume that work has been done on the unreleased albums.

 

Well, the card included says "for more information on forthcoming releases" in the series to check his website. Does that sound like it's over to you?

 

I would think, and hope, that the series would continue. The only disconcerting thing is that the precedent of the Coming Soon card stopped. It's not like it's an unusual thing for a label and/or artist to abort a reissue series, especially one as pricey as these.

 

I have faith and no inner knowledge but next spring- Wild Life/Red Rose Speedway double release!

 

Couldn't they have just given us a "maybe coming eventually" card?

Maybe they are tired of the long "coming soon" card threads!

Seriously though, getting rid of the "coming soon" cards is an easy business decision that can have nothing to do with the future. It could be very minimal savings issue, it could be that they just want to have "freedom" to change their minds on what is coming and how soon or it could be as simple as they didn't think the cost of having the cards was adding any real impact.

 

What we know for sure (detailed here McCartney's manager reaches out to explain Flowers in the Dirt downloads ) is that McCartney's team are working on album reissues on a case by case basis. Wild Life and Red Rose Speedway are being considered. A McCartney box set of some kind is also being considered.

Paul was asked in a recent Q&A for Japan what the next reissue would be and answered "I don't know - they don't tell me".

Since McCartney has signed a new deal with Capitol and the press release stated a "comprehensive" plan for his back catalogue would be implemented "beginning July 2017"; maybe we'll see sooner rather than later, but it all depends whether the "comprehensive plan" involves a change of direction, or a continuation of the archive collection series.

 

I have inner knowledge and no faith -- so I've given up predicting...

 

That Paul, you just can't get a solid answer out of him ...

 

I thought there was a "coming soon" card with these two titles listed posted somewhere?

I could see that and reality then sets in....Kudos to the Japanese reporter asking that question, maybe caught Macca off-guard ?

Should have asked him why no "Flowers" tracks in the "new" setlist either.
