Not sure if a similar post has been put up….forgive me for repeating if it has.

I want to know what your favourite acoustic guitar-based mid-to up-tempo rock songs are.

Let me qualify, I’m not talking about slow ballads or MTV Unplugged versions (or similar) of rock songs originally recorded with electric axes. The song can have electric guitar on it, but the main focus is the acoustic. The song has to be mid to fast tempo. So, for the purposes of this question Goin’ Mobile by The Who would qualify but Angie by The Stones wouldn’t (I love that song, but that’s the focus for a different survey).

Several of the songs on the first 4 Rod Stewart albums. Built on acoustic instruments (guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo, piano, etc.) with heavy drum beats and occasional electric guitar and organ.

Guitar man with Elvis is a wonderful, fast accoustic driven song. Listen to the fantasic Jerry Reed. He wrote the song, and plays here too.

I suppose most songs on Violent Femmes' debut would qualify...

The acoustic guitar on Eddie C.'s original Summertime Blues is what gives it the drive... and provided a blueprint the Faces, Rod and Bowie would take to its logical conclusion
