Jason Isbell - New album "The Nashville Sound"

Something More Than Free was fantastic just like Southeastern.

 

They went on sale a couple of weeks ago. All five shows sold out within a few hours.

 

Well F me.

 

I'm sure something will pop up at a decent price that week. Hate buying tickets so far in advance. Luckily there's not really a bad seat there.

 

This is an example of just how great a songwriter he is--his lyrics juxtapose the political with the personal in a unique way. I can't wait for the album to drop.

 

I listened to Southeastern in the car again yesterday after reading a few negative comments about Something More than Free in this thread. I guess in the end it's all a matter of taste, but I still prefer SMtF which I think represents a step forward in his songwriting... I think Speedtrap Town, for instance, can stand proudly next to the songs on Springsteen's Nebraska.

I like the sound of the single from the new album which seems more representative of his live act.

 

Hopefully this one is 33 rpm

 

As I recall "Something More Than Free" was a double album but it was 33 1/3.
I wish Southeastern had been a double, and pressed better.

 

So excited! Love the single, and any kind of record Jason Isbell wants to make is an automatic preorder.

 

Just ordered the " Indie Exclusive " version, w/songbook from Bull Moose for $20.97.

 

Is there any Indy colour vinyl of this album

 

Speed Trap Town is so great I can listen to it multiple times in a row.

 

I gotta get a copy of the RSD "1979" release.

Love the new single.. it was great to hear live!

 

Of the songs on "Free", the one I keep repeating is the title track. I love the lyrics.

 

I grabbed the live EP last weekend and it's been on constant rotation since. It flat out smokes.

 

Just in case I'm not able to grab a copy... does anyone know if it's gonna be released digitally?

No, that would defeat the entire purpose. Welcome To 1979 is the name of our 100% analog recording studio, here in Nashville. They recorded the EP direct-to-disc in the studio. Sorry.

There's hope yet... I was out of town on a gig during RSD weekend, and was sick to boot. Couldn't go shopping!

 

My son got out of a warm bed, out into the cold rain, only to find at least 100 guys sitting out in it, an hour before they opened. Even sent me the pictures, of course I raised him with more sense than to stand in cold rain, for some records.
After the way it's kept going up since then, my $50 isn't bad at all.

Quite true. Maybe I'll luck out here.. there's a lot of participating record stores where I live.

 

NEVER. The whole point of direct to disk is maximize ANALOG fidelity. That being said, it will definitely be exceptionally ripped from the LP and posted on the usual sites. PM me if you need help finding it. It is amazing.
