Just catching up after losing power here for about 12 hours. These last four or five pages have been some of the best stuff to read. Thanks !
I suck at singing and playing guitar at the same time. I can't imagine playing drums and singing at the same time. I watch guys like Levon Helm in awe.
Yep, Levon for sure. Peter Dunton of T2 always impressed me, too. Great drummer and a very good vocalist. And, yeah, I can't sing and play bass very well either (but a good part of that is I'm a terrible vocalist).
Not rude; just opinionated (which is more than fine with me). You don't think Collins or Henley can carry a tune and drum at the same time?
I listened to that last night and thought it was so bad that I just had to take a listen to the other demo Criss brought to the sessions to see if they had, perhaps, chosen the wrong song. I came to the conclusion that "Hooligan" was the better of the two and I am not a fan of "Hooligan".... What does everyone think?
This is the first I've heard these two demos (Hooligan and Love Bite). Honestly I don't see the Hooligan demo as being that different from the finished song. In most cases, unless you're dealing with Pete Townshend (or the vaunted Paul Stanley penned Love Gun) a song can only flesh out with the addition of the unique skills of the band. With Love Bite, honestly I think there's something there that would have made an interesting KISS song if it could have been filtered through the talents of Gene and Paul and the guitar playing of Ace. I can actually hear it being done by The Demon.
Collins doesn't sing well when drumming, and Henley is so far behind the beat when singing. When the Eagles had Joe Vitale drumming with them live along with Henley, Henley was so overmatched - Vitale is a good drummer.
Vitale played on the songs Henley didn't play on, and Don Henley has probably sold more records than any singing drummer in the world. Your statement is absurd.
Not so fast - sometime in the early 2000's (when this was written) on KISS ASYLUM: Musician/songwriter Stan "Doc" Penridge dead at 50 Little was heard from Penridge publicly until April 2000, when he filed a lawsuit against the KISS Company and Universal (amongst others) for back payment of royalties he claimed to have never received on over 30 songs. The case is still continuing, with a court date set for early 2002.
Hooligan, terrible song, awkwardly structured, very clumsy, worst on the record now that I think about it
I'm not offended - I just think the comment was asinine. You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to my opinion of your opinion
