As I said above, I don't have data to preview, but is this really an hour of sound check?

That was the rehearsal which he usually does a day before the soundcheck & show.

Is this the first time he's ever dropped "Band On The Run" from his set list?

The first time that he played the Budokan, "Band On The Run" was NOT in the set list ... ;)

He should really downtune (right term?) "Maybe I'm Amazed" one key to make it easier to sing. (if he's going to keep it in the setlist)

I'm so excited that he's finally coming back to the Garden! I might even try for tickets at the Coliseum, but, sadly I've heard that it's terrible there since the renovation. I'm finally going to be able to bring my son to see him (now that he's old enough to see a concert). He will be over the moon if they keep Jet in the setlist.. It's his favorite song.

At this point just remove Here Today, please! He plays no other song from the period between 1974 and 2011, except this one -and, it is there to elicit an emotional response for John. I've been waiting since 1989 to hear No More Lonely Nights, in its stead I would love to hear Getting Closer, Arrow Through Me, Take it Away, etc. Here Today while lovely, was never intended to be played night after night to tens of thousands of people. And frankly, if the plan was to make Here Today better known (and he did include it on Pure McCartney,) I think that has been accomplished about as well as can be done at this point - it has been a decade!

While of course this would never happen, who wouldn't love getting rid of George's Something and John's tribute, Here Today and replacing it with a McCartney sung version of George's tribute to John, All Those Years Ago? Now that would switch things up.

He could do 'All Those Years Ago' instead. That's a real upbeat foot tapper.

Certainly not complaining, but am a little surprised. This will be the third year in a row he's played in the state of Michigan. I'm sure it won't be cheap. Guess I'd better start saving my pennies.

I was at the show tonight. Because of the insane pricing (from $350 - $900, with the entire floor @$900), I was planning on skipping it, but was able to land a pair of first row balcony seats on his website presale that would allow my wife to sit and enjoy the show (she has a bad back), so I bit the bullet. Due to the pricing and the fact that everyone expected a shortened setlist, I don't think that the show was sold out. I suspect that there were a lot of last minute industry comps - I noticed a tent bearing the promoter's name where there was a long line of people waiting for their tickets. I also noticed a few seemingly uninterested attendees in the "cheap" seats - young women preoccupied with the cell phones, a couple of guys sleeping(!).

Overall, I enjoyed the show. His voice was very weak to start the show, and got a bit better as the night went on. At this point, I don't expect a strong vocal performance - I still get a great deal of enjoyment from the overall performance, including his bass and guitar playing. Being able to listen to live music really is a gift. No one seemed to mind the abbreviated setlist - it's a tighter show, and anyone at the Budokan tonight is probably also attending at least one of the Tokyo Dome shows where they'll hear the full set anyway. I liked hearing Jet, Junior's Farm and Hi Hi Hi as I love his bass playing on those tracks. "Every Night" was nice (and in a good register for his weaker voice), and "I Wanna Be Your Man" was a cool surprise.

Thanks for the review. What is the justification for the shorter sets at Budokan (Other than "Pay more, get less!")?

He sounds pretty good here. And his screams are quite strong for his advanced age.

I had a few of those but I wore them out because I treated them like an ordinary jacket, ordinary jacket.

I just got an email from the Prudential Center announcing Paul McCartney's first New Jersey show in 10 years.

I guess East Rutherford had seceded by last August? Maybe that's why Paul kept calling it New York. (I didn't record the show, as I was with a friend and didn't want to bother being quiet for the sake of the mic, or alternatively have a recording marred by our conversation, but I did find a recording, and you can hear the audience proudly and defensively correct Paul!)

My daughter who loves the Beatles will be 4 by the time of the Detroit show. I am going to try for that ... Then in 75 years from now when she will be 78/79 on the cusp of Paul's 150th birthday she can say she saw him, a Beatle, live and in person!
