    Some of the names of these companies get pronounced several different ways.
    Which is right?
    A few that come to mind:
    Pro-ject
    Is it like a science project or a movie projector?
    Rega
    Like Vega or Reega
    Sonus Faber
    Like father or Fabian?
    Triangle
    Some insist Tree-on-glay

    Which is right? What are others?

    To me the hyphen makes it Prō-Ject. The others I hear different even from dealers. As for Triangle, i guess if you pronounce Target with a long ā at the end, then I guess all bets are off. :)

    I know this thread is in "Audio Hardware" so wants to focus on audio companies, but screw it - Myke opened the gates! :D

    "Hormel" should rhyme with "normal". It's not really "Hor-mell".

    The first part of "Hyundai" should be phonetic and not drop the "y" to be "Hunday".

    Also, the "dai" should be "deh", so it's "Hyundeh", not "Hunday".

    That's all I got!

    Paul Darwin pronounces Rega on YouTube. It sounds like reega.

    Audeze = Au-diss-see or Au-deez?
    Focal = FO-cal or Focal (rhymes with local)?
    Emotiva = E-MO-tee-va or E-mo-TEE-va?
    Wal-Mart = Wally World?

    That's it for now........

    Seems like I recall reading that Audeze was pronounced Odyssey. I may be totally wrong though.

    I had a Jolida for years and always mispronounced it
    I said jol-eye-da
    Its jo- leed-a

    I watched Michael Fremer do a video of a factory tour at Rega a couple months ago. He starts off in the video saying "we are here at Rega" and pronounced it like reega. Everyone else at Rega pronounced it that way. I had always pronounced it with a short e like Vega. I had been pronouncing it wrong for so many years. And nobody corrected me.

    So I can relate to the reason for this thread.

    I do know how to pronounce "Schiit". I intentionally mispronounce it when mentioning the name in public so that I don't sound rude.

    I always pronounced it the first way (like "opportunity"). However, I recently watched a video on Crutchfield's website where the guy pronounced it the second way (like "oh no")

    Take a look at their new store "Schiitr", where among other things they promise to provide "A comfortable place to sit down ...".

    For the old documents in history, they spelled some works with a "f". Like its it fuffecient to continue on. It was really strange but its on some Ye Ol' documents from way back in the days.

    Their full actual quote is "A comfortable place to sit down and listen to (a lot of) our gear." Just "sounds" better the way I truncated it.

    Oppo being chinese, it's most likely əʊ-poh or "oh-poh".
