I've been really into 70s early 80s Kinks albums of late listening to Low Budget and Give the People What they Want a lot. Also I have to say the Ray Davies album is very good...a strong batch of songs with no nonsense production values it doesn't hurt the Jayhawks are his backing band.

All good stuff. If you don't have the two earlier solo albums by Ray, they're pretty good, too.

Thanks I actually haven't heard any of the other Ray solo albums.

Working Man's Cafe is particularly good.

I like all of them! Even 'UK Jive', which seems to be universally hated... I'd agree about 'Working Man's Café' too, some great tracks on there.

I actually need to give a new listen to Think Visual, Phobia, and UK Jive. I don't have them, but I figure they shouldn't be too difficult to come by. My recollection is there are good songs on all, but none of them hold up super-well as albums.

I just recently realized the album covers for Give the People What they Want and State of Confusion appear to be the same location.

'BROKEN' the theme from the new BBC TV series of the same name (superb series) is a nice addition to the catalogue. Ray's voice wavers a bit, and some of the lyrics are 'borrowed' from 'SCATTERED', but a moving piece of music at the end of each episode.

You wait 10 years for a new album, then another new track pops up as well, almost immediately!

Looking forward to another album this year from Sir Ray. :)
