Do they even have an importer these days? I read a few years ago they were going factory direct.

I was toying with buying their cheapest LP12 but apparently it only comes with a Pro-Ject arm and a Linn cartridge.

IMHO, you get much more turntable if you buy used, versus the new Majik. Even half what it costs for a used LP12 gets you a lot more.

So no one know if you can even buy Linn in this country anymore?

I'm not trying to be a smart Alec, but why not try contacting Linn and find out?

They are still listed as one of the brands carried by one of my local dealers. When I go to the "Find a Shop" section of the Linn website and plug in a few US cities, dealership names pop up as well.

BTW the LP 12 can be modded with a LINN tonearm but these are way more expensive than the decent PRO-JECT top tomearm. Reference class = reference pricing..
But the LP 12 and theDAC&AMP/streamer MAJIK DSM combo are excellent value for money

The LP 12 can also be ordered with the URIKA internal Phono Pre. LINN believes in that pairing of Phono Pre and turntable and stopped offering stand alone Phon Preamps !

Linn seems to be disinterested in the US market these days. I don't get it.

I have a local store that carries Linn. I just bought a cart from them 2 weeks ago. They have lots of Linn equipment for sale, so my experience is that they seem to be interested in the US market in my area.

Good to know. Many of the Linn "dealers' that have popped up here in the last few years don't feature their turntables. This dealer you mentioned may be different but no mention of Linn under turntables on their site but a discount banner is at the top for a Sondek so that's encouraging.

We have a Linn dealer here in Dallas - not very close to the SF Bay Area. Bought my Linn Axis w/Basik Plus arm from them back in the late '80s. I also bought a couple of Linn and Grado cartridges from them, too. A few years ago, when the power supply failed, I was going to buy the least expensive LP12 from them and use the Basik Plus arm with it. But, when I found I could buy a restored Thorens TD-125 MKII with a new SME M2-9R arm for less, I decided to go that route instead. I would like to say every purchase I made with the Dallas Linn dealer was very positive.

There used to be 2 great Linn dealers that specialized in the LP12 in the Bay Area back when I got my table many years ago. They're long gone now unfortunately.

Which is kind of funny considering Linn isn't listed as one of their turntable brands.

Linn is alive and well in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Overture Audio has stocked Linn turntables, speakers and electronics for decades, and continues to do so.

They also have a top Linn setup specialist, Tom O'Keefe. When people complain about LP12's being impossible to adjust, I don't relate, because there is someone only a few miles from my house that can make mine function perfectly.

I heartily agree.... I bought mine from them with a Valhalla way back in the 1980's and it performed very well for the 10 or so years that I had it.

Have you tried Basil Audio in Los Gatos? It's about an hour's drive from you.

Not yet, but soon. I'm a-goin' turntable-hunting this spring. :)

And hey, at least somebody is trying to fill the 'dearth of Sondek' in the Bay Area.
