Imagine an album from 26 years ago sounding dated. The horror.

Not as dated as your wit.

I thought it was a funny comment actually. But my humour is pretty dated anyway......

Oh, you are even more dated than me ;)

I don't think that The Mix sounds dated. It's just a bunch of songs sounding like their Computer World era. And they were ahead of everyone in 1981. :righton:

Which was 10 years before this. Everybody had caught up with them by 1991.

Churning out past glories, over & over dosn't help.

They are their own tribute band.

Let's keep on topic - this seems pretty pointless.
Bur for the record: Millington don't like them no more - we got it.

    I.m.o.: meh.
A track like "Pocket Calculator" lost almost all it's subtle sounds to make place for a hammering rythm. The original version is witty and melodious, the "The Mix" version screams out you can DANCE to it.
I think "The Mix" was a proof that Kraftwerk lost their 'ahead of their time'-title and were catching up on things.

Oh! I still like them & listen to them, Tommy.

I just think they ought to be doing something a bit more contemporary. Which I think by now, they are not.

Anyway sorry to upset so many folks about a self-proclaimed "forward thinking outfit", to be churning out same old - same old; under the banner of "LIVE concerts" & few computer graphics.

I agree, sort of wish I hadn't started the thread. Bunch of moaners all come out to play.

I'm pretty sure Kraftwerk aren't the only previously innovative act currently trading on their back catalogue, not that I have a problem with it. I am looking forward to seeing them in June, and am looking forward to the 3D box.

What's the headphone 3D mix about then? Has anyone heard an example yet?

I think anyone who's been to one of their recent shows will be excited for this release. I saw them at Tate modern and it was one of my favourite live experiences. Fans have been calling out for 'The Mix 2' because the shows have moved on even since 2005, and this package delivers the entire catalogue since Autobahn for a great price. I love all ages of Kraftwerk, like anyone I have preferences, I think the original Radioactivity is far better then modern interpretations but the fact that after the Japanese tsunami disaster they actually amended the lyrics shows a continual development.

I am glad you started this thread. Aside from the moaners there is good info here.

(I have developed a reading technique where i can scroll through the moan posts pretty fast. And if a person goes on and on and on with negativity i put him/her on ignore).

The reading technique will stand you in good stead in forums across the internet.

    Critique is good, baiting isn't.

I want to apologize to people who read German. A few times I've used "die" instead of "der". So from now on I'll try to remember "Die Roboter" and "Der Katalog". :)

I get it wrong all the time. And i had german in school, and have traveled in germany many times.
Germans do forgive you when it comes to foreigners manhandling their language.

Thats a good idea. I like the odd moan myself, but dear me some of these KW fans need to go for a fast ride down the autobahn to release some tension

Luckily the German and English editions of the 8 cd box are about the same price, so I am doing English 4 blu-ray, and German 8 cd box.

    I've just had a look.

All Kraftwerk needs to do is produce the latest cutting edge electronica beats to bring a new dawn of IDM, whilst also returning to their 1970s roots (Moog, flute). Also release this new music for free as an apology for a slow work ethic and for 'milking' the fans for so many years.

    That may appease the situation...

Sorry for moaning but Kraftwerk on Facebook, Instagram, www etc. and the near constant touring (the same material) has taken away most of the mystique and exclusivity they had when I grew up and discovered them... They used to be so special but have become "just another band". I'm not even sure I will pick up the new releases.
