I've got a soft spot for Jim Croce, Gordon Lightfoot, and America because my dad listened to them a lot when I was a kid. I'm probably one of the few people in my demographic who could sing along to "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald."

Ambrosia. Very progressive at times, but knew how to write hits to sprinkle into their recordings.

America? Yeah, I love them. They were better on their first 3 records IMO, before George Martin got hold of them.

Yeup, its funny how a simple band member change can effect the sound and the direction the band takes.....

I've been a huge fan of Little River Band ever since I heard several tracks from their debut album on the radio back in the 70's.

Another big favourite of mine is Unicorn whom I discovered though their Pink Floyd connection (David Gilmour).

I love Ambrosia, too - and Firefall, America, Magna Carta... Yes, I'm a true softie. If I were not so woozy after having only just woken up, I might be able to come up with more names.

Now as the years roll on
Each time we hear our favorite song
    The memories come along
    Older times we're missing
    Spending the hours reminiscing

  17. Orleans is a good one. I also like The Little River Band and America.

Grant Life is a rock, but the radio rolled me!

When you say your dad listened to this stuff, it sure makes me feel old! I was a kid when that stuff was popular, and I loved it! Sure, my father listened to this stuff too, but the music was of the baby-boom generation.

My favorite Firefall song. To me, it is the most soulful thing they ever did.

Love America, and I think a lot of it has to do with their Beatles connection through George Martin and Geoff Emerick, and their love of The Beatles's music. My favorite Orleans song is "Love Takes Time" from 1979.

I've never been a huge LRB fan, though.

The Marshall Tucker Band are many wonderful things, but soft rock isn't one of then.
