Ah, some of my favorite albums! Good on you guys.

First album that comes to mind:

Beefheart- Safe As Milk. One of the finest debuts of the 60s IMO.

    Also:

    Velvet Underground- s/t third album.
    Chrome- Half Machine Lip Moves
    Alice Cooper- Killer

I'm sure more will come to me after more coffee.

I'll repeat it because it is so great:

Iggy & the Stooges- Fun House!

Most songwriters would give an arm and a leg to write any of songs on side 2 of Moondance.

    Bingo......you hit a home run.

The only reason anyone would consider the songs on side 2 of Moondance to be weak is because they are preceded by the five little numbers on side one which are canon and stone classic Van and stone classic period. This coming from a pretty casual Van Morrison fan. That's one of the greatest sides in rock and a pretty tough act to follow...

Try as I might, I can't cite a single instance of a lesser, crappy song on Jellyfish's "Spilt Milk". The entire album is solid granite.

There are not many like this, well not in my collection. I find most albums to have at least one song that isn't quite up to par.
    Ziggy Stardust
    Orgasmatron by Motorhead
The Hounds of Love by Kate Bush
    The First Queen lp
    Guitar Shop by Jeff Beck.

    Part II of perfection:
    Free "Fire and Water"
Neil Young "Tonight's the Night "
    Neil Young "Zuma"
(I'd put "On the Beach" except I think Through My Sails doesn't fit.)
Deep Purple "Machine Head" (though I will confess to not having listened to it in decades. Still, song by song? All good, nothing weak.)

True. And yet, the 5 numbers on side B are pretty great too.

90-something percent of the albums in my collection.

I know that's an unpopular opinion. But I rarely think that albums that I like have bad or even just not-so-good songs. In my view, "filler" is pretty rare.

One way to look at it is through the lens of the Weakest Link game played on this forum. If it's a piece of cake for you, as a player, to select songs (especially in the early rounds) to be eliminated, then (in my opinion) it's less than a perfect album.

You are a person of taste. I mean, Suicide and The Fall?!? Stellar.

I actually truly enjoy listening to Metal Machine Music. Too many people dismiss it out of hand. It's not just an important album, it is great listening IMO.

I think the first two Devo albums are essential and great through and through.

Brian Eno's Warm Jets and Tiger Mountain--not a single duff track. Those two albums still amaze me.
