Thank you, John with the band doing back ground vocals.

Parts at 5 sec and 11 sec --- the vocal has a Paul characteristic--- Lennon's voice never sounded like that.

The background howling----most evident at 14 sec----is Lennon.

The whole of the pitched down version tacked on at the end of that link drives home that it's Paul.

During the ahhhhhs Paul's pitch wavers in a way (even if it's intentionally raw) that Lennon's never really did (at least until the White Album)----where Paul's had often (but got better towards the later Beatle years after Peppper----he struggles with the falsetto in She's Leaving Home-----his falsetto later improved).

    Giles Martin on Twitter

"It's John, Paul is singing I high ooh on the same Mike with lots of reverb"

    Well here is Giles' answer.

Well there you go, I really thought it was Paul but I guess he would know.

still sort of think it's Paul.

  10. Finally an answer from a person who would know. Apparently, it is both of them in some form, although Giles seems to indicate John is the primary singer. Now we can all stop arguing about this rather silly topic.

Doesn't mean he is correct, but even though it is clearly Paul IMO, it is still cool to hear his opinion.

While it does sound like Paul at times, I'm gonna take Giles' word for it. This is a guy who has spent numerous hours with not only the original tapes but also the original notes, etc. Not to mention he's just finished remixing Sgt. Pepper so it's still fresh in his mind.

I apparently voted "don't know " years ago. I always thought it was John. After hearing it isolated, I switched to Paul. Now with Giles' tweet, I am back to "don't know. "

Its obviously John. I'm surprised this is even a question, its so obvious.

Anyone who said Paul should list that in their profile.

Can you Tweet this clip in a response to Giles and ask him to reconsider his opinion?

It's clearly Paul, when you hear this clip there is no question about it.

I know, it's hard to fathom. It seems obvious to me, but of course those on the other side are just as confident in their verdict. Now we have to go to the man himself and maybe Yoko or Sean. If Paul says it's John then maybe I'd buy it. . . ;)

The Geoff Emerick that insists he recorded Blackbird outside the studio one night so he could include real blackbird noises on the track, as opposed to going to the tape library!?

The Giles Martin who omitted a piano part on A Day In The Life, left in an extraneous piano chord on Ballad of John and Yoko, left up both of Paul's "was in vein" parts on If I Fell and left up both tom tom parts in the outro of Eight Days A Week!?

    Hmmm.....

Well, Emerick is wrong about their being a punch-in between "went into a dream" and the "ahhs", so yes, it's a hung jury.

:agree::thumbsup: They are both human and not perfect. Their word on things isn't necessarily always the truth.

Dude, some people even think it's Paul singing "she loves you" in "All You Need Is Love," even when there's freaking video footage of John singing it...
