Well it makes me wonder why anyone would prefer the AP at twice the price? I assume the jacket is nicer though.

I believe you are correct vis-a-vis the OJC/Newbury pressings using the DCC plates. I snapped up a copy of the Amazon "Saxophone Colossus" a few weeks ago, and the copy I received is the same mastering/pressing as the Analogue Productions "Prestige Mono" series, which is listed here: Sonny Rollins-Saxophone Colossus-200 Gram Vinyl Record|Acoustic Sounds

Not if you hook it up to your stereo.

Not bad for the size, we have 2 for young children - but agree best to connect to stereo or at least a better speaker.

Hendrix Machine Gun 1st Fillmore East Show is down to $19.17 on Amazon. Perhaps not a world class deal but the cheapest it's been on Amazon, according to camelcamelcamel.

It was low enough that I finally bit. This is one of those titles that has been on my list but I was waiting for the "new" to wear off and the price to drop.

That topic is covered pretty extensively in this 49-page thread.

I think the upshot is that both the US and EU pressings sound good. The US pressing has Bernie Grundman's initials, the EU doesn't, but most people seem to think they sound basically the same.

Hmmm...I don't need this as I'm already covered with my "Time of the Zombies" comp....but for the price of a 12 inch sub? I'm in!

It's pressed at QRP, one of the better plants in my opinion.

In my experience the three Hendrix reissues set the standard for vinyl reissues right down to the loose bags they come in.
