Have you ever heard the song "Ira", recorded a few years ago just before Charlie's passing? A lovely, tear jerking tribute to his brother.

A deeply touching song. Great video, too. Did Charlie write it?

The Louvin's are first-rate. This, for me, is one of the best country songs ever, it's just perfect.

I saw an interview with Charlie, and he said for all the years as a solo performer, he instinctually wanted to move to the side of the mic for Ira to step up for his harmony.

I cannot recommend the Razor & Tie comp above enough. Mastered by our host, it is the best sounding disc I own. It has great track selection, and can be had for a reasonable price.

My favourite by the Louvins is My Baby's Gone.

"Hold back the rushing minutes, make the wind lie still..." I love these lyrics. A wonderful title track to a wonderful album. Those guys could sing!

Another track on this LP that I love is She Didn't Even Know I Was Gone. It's just perfect but sadly not on YouTube.

It's great to see The Louvin Brothers getting some love on this forum.

I first heard The Louvin Brothers via an American band-mate. He basically said "you love The Beatles, you love The Everly Brothers. Here's where they got it from" and proceeded to play me a bunch of their stuff and gave me a potted history. I think my main response was "Wow". Read an interesting book on them a few years back, can't remember for the life of me what it was but now I understand that Satan was real, 16ft tall, made of plywood and painted by The Louvin Brothers. God bless 'em.

Thanks to all those for sharing & all those that tried to share!!

Born in '56; remember seeing Moms Mayley & Minnie Pearl a lot on TV while visiting my Grandfather in the 50's.

"Folk" dominated, after "Pop", my earliest TV musical experiences. TV was pretty White; luckly, O-Town Grandpops
thought 'Pops' [Louis Armstrong] was the greatest!

    I'll kick up this thread.

The other day I found a copy of Steve's Razor & Tie comp for a buck. I just finished listening to it and am enthralled. Indescribable music! After reading the liner notes, I ordered Charlie's book from the library. I could easily see a movie made from this story.
