Yep, spun this original vinyl late tonight. A sad album as it would be the end of the Fabs. It always reminds of Linda McCartney's photos of the lads at Lennons Tittenhurst home. Those photos are so haunting just like the Abbey Road album. Haunting in a way because like the Tittenhurst photos it was the end of the band and the 1960's.

Love this album but always had an ambiguity to it from the infamous cover to the music itself. Abbey Road had many meanings but some damn catchy tunes, it makes me wonder if the Fabs had continued into the 70's what they would have sounded like.

A fun album for me albeit sad for the future of the Fabs. Great album, Abbey Road always left me wanting more from the Fabs. It still does tonight as I spin this vinyl. That intro to You Never Gave Me Your Money was always a tear jerker. Now where is that 2012 stereo pressing of Road.

My favorite Beatles record, and a borderline top 1 0 all-time album for me. Flawless in every way. Side 2 is such a terrific ride!

Nice interview from the period. Despite the endless discussion over the years, it's Interesting how John Lennon himself is constantly referring to the last eight compressed songs as The Medley. That's how I also always call it, the Abbey Road Medley.

    • The album where Lennon contributed two tracks that sound unlike anything else before or after (despite what the court found).

    • The album where Harrison showed that he was every bit an equal to Lennon and McCartney as a songwriter.

•The album that showed that despite the dysfunction in their previous effort (Let It Be), they could really come together as a unit and still produce stunning work. It includes serious songs, fun moments, and poignancy. Everything that made a good Beatles record great.

    • The album that demonstrated that the four Beatles plus George Martin could produce a sound, using the up to date technologies, that can be immediately identified as belonging to that album.

    • The iconic album photo that included many clues that "proved" that McCartney was dead. The zebra crossing was never the same since. Nicely parodied on McCartney's "Paul is Live" album cover.

This isn't one of my favorites. Only two of these songs make my top 200 Beatles songs counting in BBC, Love Nake, the Anthologies and several unreleased recordings. I went with

    Something
    Oh! Darling
    Octopus's Graden
    Here Comes The Sun
You Never Give Me Your Money

These all fall around the Top 220 range.

My absolute favorite Beatles album by a long shot. But Come Together seems out of place and ruins the experience for me to the point that I skip over it today. Come Together I could take on Let It Be or White Album. Not here.

    Arguably their finest moment.

The two songs that start side 2 are my favorites - "Here Comes The Sun" and the sublime "Because"

I count the continuous section on side two as one piece, so I can't vote. A truly great album as a whole.

Similar to Let It Be, it's the Beatles saying goodbye:

    "One sweet dream
Pick up the bags and get in the limousine
Soon we'll be away from here
Step on the gas and wipe that tear away
One sweet dream came true today
    Came true today
Came true today (Yes it did)

One two three four five six seven
All good children go to Heaven"

A triumph of record making more than songwriting (George excepted). Lennon/McCartney were kind of tapped out. But they made great records out of John's Come Together and I Want You. The assembling of scraps on side two made something great out of a lot of leftovers. And it truly is great. And George had two actually sublime songs. Love the album.

Arguably the greatest album ever, falling short of perfection only due to the cutesy and distasteful Maxwell. I give the nearly too-cutesy Octopus a pass because Ringo. The album should not have had both those tracks on it. Side 2 definitely the best album side ever.

I don’t feel like picking favorite individual songs, but the album as a whole is remarkable and one of my favorites from The Fab Five.
