They are calling it the 6XX, but it's virtually the same. Different length of chord and comes with 1/8 plug instead of 1/4 (adaptor included), but that's it.

Yes dec ship date, sennheiser has to make them.
I wasn't ordering but when they dropped it to 199 I figured I could buy and wait for that price

 

thanks for clearing that up. so they are almost like crowd funding. you pay up front. i wonder if they don't get enough orders if someone like sennheiser would not build the cans. they seem to have plenty of interest in this one. would love to hear how it turns out for you. take care.
