Over my 2-mile walk this morning, I played the Beethoven 4th & 6th from the following box for a second listen ...
Now listening to CD 3 from "Beethoven - The Complete Piano Sonatas" performed by Francois Frederic Guy on Outhere. Sonatas 13, 12 & 4
Probably will just listen to the Sonata and then move on to something else. This is lovely music, though.
First listen to CD 8 from "Locatelli - Complete Edition" on Brilliant. Violin Concertos 1-3 - performed by Ensemble Violini Capricciosi led by Igor Ruhadze.
I get that....I don't dislike, hate her in any way....but I wouldn't go out of my way to include her interpretations in my collection.
I know! It's pretty cool and I certainly feel very lucky! I will be going as much as I can, during the week after my bike rides - treating myself with just a few I can carry in my backpack (no more than 10) - ,on the weekend with husband and car.
First listen to CD 8 from "Ferenc Fricsay - Complete Recordings On DG Vol.1 - Orchestral Works." Beethoven - Symphonies Nos. 5 & 7 performed by the Berliner Philharmoniker
This Fragonard painting was used as a visual/color reference for the Disney movie Tangled. A representation of it later appears in the Disney movie Frozen.
First listen to CD 5 from "Lili Kraus - The Complete Parlophone, Ducretet-Thomson & Discophiles Français Recordings" on Erato. Mozart - 6 Variations on "Salve tu Domine" from Paisiello / 8 Variations on "Come un agnello" from Sarti / Fantasia K. 475 / Sonata No. 14 / Trio* K. 498 / Rondo K. 511 * Francois Etienne (clarinet) and Pierre Pasquier (viola)
She was excellent in the Spanish repertoire. I have a couple of her Schubert and Schumann recordings on vinyl. She also had excellent Decca sonics on most of her issues. I don't think she was ever considered an A list pianist though. As I mostly listen to solo piano I can't really comment on recordings with orchestra.
Now playing: Bohuslav Martinů – Piano Sonata No.1 / Les Ritournelles / Fantasie et Toccata / Etutdes & Polkas / Julietta (Act II Scene 3): moderato — Rudolf Firkusny (piano) (RCA Victor Red Seal)
My only de Larrocha recording is this one included in the Decca Sound - The Analogue Years box. The two bonus tracks are Faure: Fantaisie Op. 11 and Franck: Variations Symphoniques which seem out of place on a "Spanish Concertos" album. It would have made more sense to replicate this CD tracklist.
First listen to CD 23 from "Furtwangler - The Legacy" on Membran. Beethoven - Violin Concerto performed by Wolfgang Schneiderhan with the Berliner Philharmoniker Beethoven - Romances Nos. 1 & 2 performed by Yehudi Menuhin with the Philharmonia Orchestra
