Fascinating topic. Are these full album collaborations between two instrumental artists, then?

Like one of my most favored collections: Jimmy McGriff and Groove Holmes sharing keyboard leads here.

I always wondered what Jazz great Hendrix might have recorded with had he lived. Miles? No lyrics, just music. Would have been incredible....

No. Not necessarily whole albums. Both of my examples are single tracks from albums that as a whole, were not duets.

Your example isnt a duet. But two instruments trading off leads. Interesting as well and perhaps deserving of its own thread.

Well, Bytor, starting with Oregon, you're on the right track with Ralph Towner, who's done many, many marvelous duet albums, including two with John Abercrombie, two with Gary Burton, then Gary Peacock, Paulo Fresu, Peter Erskine, and a number of solo albums that feature him dueting with himself on piano and guitar.

My favorite is the first track I heard of either him or Gary Burton, together on their first solo album, Matchbook, recorded this month in 1974.

Thanks. Oregon is one of those overlooked bands deserving of more attention. Ditto for Ralph Towner. Nice track! Would you have recommendations something more in line with a more aggressive approach? By this I mean, less meandering and more in your face.

Sorry . now, really reading your post here, as I glanced it over the first time. I don't want to unintentionally open a can of worms on your thread and cause it to get diluted from your original intent . I hope my 2nd entry was at least closer to the mark .
