Band lineups that were not well received by fans

Who knew who the Beatles were before Ringo, even? 12 people?

 

I think there's at least some level of sarcasm. Granted, these lineups all initially received backlash, but they All to some degree won people over.

 

Ozzy with Bernie Torme or Brad Gillis

 

In the late-70's my Deadhead friends used to complain about Donna in the Grateful Dead line up.

 

Yeah, a few people got on board with that Beatles lineup after 1962...

 

Granted, they were obviously better off with Ringo long-term, but the local fans were at the time p*ssed about Pete being replaced (Pete Forever, Ringo Never)

 

Some of the later-day line-ups of The Byrds, with only Roger McGuinn as an original Byrd, have their detractors.

 

It was mostly female fans from what I have read.

 

Liverpool loved the Beatles long before Pete left the band. And they were mad at them when Ringo came in.
If it was 12 or 12,000 fans, they were fans.

 

She wrote 5 songs on the Time album - more than anyone else - and performed on others. A bit more than limited participation.

Her stuff is great too on that album.

 

And certain gentlemen who favored tight leather trousers ...

 

Any time Miles Davis came up with a new stack of players, such as (what is now called) the second great quintet of mid-60s and more young musicians in the early 80s (with a different Bill Evans too!).

 

Many punters in Liverpool and Hamburg.

 

The Allman Brothers when they added Mike Lawler on keyboards/keytar or whatever

 

Bananarama with Jacquie O'Sullivan who replaced the most popular member Siobhan Fahey.

 

Every Kiss lineup after the originals, especially the current lineup with Tommy Thayer & Eric Singer in Ace & Peter's makeup.

 

The Poco lineup that produced "Under the Gun" (1980), "Blue and Gray" (1981) and "Cowboys and Englishmen" (1982).

 

-The Box Tops post-Alex Chilton (they did have a few releases)
-The 1966 Kinks tour with Mick Grace standing in for Ray Davies
-The Byrds 1968 South African tour (sans Gram Parsons)
-Most 1967 Pink Floyd gigs where Syd Barrett was a "no-show"

 

Seeing Cheap Trick is seeing Cheap Trick, but I think overall, it's a disappointment to plenty of fans that Bun E Carlos no longer plays with them.

 

For some, the Replacements after Bob was let go.
R.E.M. after Bill Berry left.
J. Geils after Peter Wolf left.
Aerosmith after Joe Perry left.
