New Paul McCartney album "Egypt Station" coming September 7, 2018*

He's on a song called 'Show Me The Way':

How did Paul wind up taking part in sessions for the new album?
Well, I just called him up and said,"I got this song called 'Show Me the Way,' and I want you to play on it." Because he is a really good friend of mine, he said he'd come to L.A. for it. It's about [my wife] Barbara. She shows me the way. I wanted it to be very personal. While he was there, he also played on "We're on the Road Again." That was very kind of him.

You two still sound great together.
He's an incredible musician. He's incredible at singing too and as a writer, but for me, as a bass player, he is the finest and the most melodic. It's always fun when we're playing together. I've played on several of his records, mainly in the Nineties. People keep saying, "Oh, it’s been so long." It's not been that long. We did the Grammys, we did that Beatles show three years ago. So we are still pals, but we don't live in each other's pocket.

 

That's Ringo's album, I think the other person was referring to Paul's next record..

 

At least his speaking voice sounds good.

 

No wonder the new album is taking so long, it took him all night to record one little jingle that has one word and three notes.

 

All recent songs I believe, and one possible controversial track.
Release date November 2017 I would imagine.

 

I vaguely recall something about how they were intended to be free (for fan club members.) I certainly would like to see a nice CD of them (along with other Crimble material, not least of all being the scrapped '65 one, a very "out there" affair not unlike the '66 one, shelved in favor of a fun but more casual piece of wax.)

I still want that Christmas album Paul talked about that he recorded for his family, but was thinking of releasing.

 

Why are you telling us? Speak to Stella or Mary or James or Heather (Linda's daughter; not the other one). They can send you a copy; not us...

If it happens at all this year, I doubt it will be November

 

Except for Anthology.

 

Okay then. If November is out, that leaves:

September---too soon, so unlikely
October ---most probable, if it is ready
December---too late to cash in on holiday season and too late to generate mass publicity, so unlikely

 

But November has five Thursdays!

 

Ohhh... That's rare indeed.

In that case, maybe November IS the month. Let me recalibrate the percentages ...

 

Once vs. all the time that hasn't happened

 

Well, there was this album in 1970...

 

I'd be extremely surprised if the new album popped up in November, September I'd say is out and if no announcement in a week or so, I'd say October is out as well. Doesn't make sense to release in December so I'm sticking with 2018
