Anybody else pick these up yet? Many of these songs will be completely new to me, so hopefully I'll discover some gems along the way. :)

There are definitely some pretty good songs on there; I have most of the ones I know on CD already, but that's a minority of them.

It looks like volume 4 is the one for British acts.

To me it looks like Rhino on quaaludes!

    What an intriguing track listing!

    Looks good.

As one reviewer says on Amazon : Pretty Neat Compilation. While there were some tracks that I already had, there were enough obscure songs that I had never heard before that made this purchase worthwhile. Now if only somebody can tell me why only the Japanese are putting out compilations like this??

Most likely only the Japanese are still willing to buy this kind of compilation in numbers large enough to justify the licensing/vault headaches and costs.

I have one of those WEA vault cds (US) of sunshine pop and I'd buy them sight unseen if I could afford them.

Okay, between the four discs, there goes about $100 next month if I buy new copies. And there's no way I'm going to be able to stop at just one.

These look nice, very pleasing to the eye. I wonder what the booklets look like and how detailed they are? Hope they show up in Discogs soon.

Odd how Vol 4 has the same song, "She's Not Like Any Girl", twice right next to each other, albeit by different artists. Tracks 9 and 10.

Edit - Just read in the article linked in post #2 and it states "Each disc comes with a thick booklet containing credits and lyrics in English; alas, the track-by-track liner notes are in Japanese only".

    Dang.

What an amazing-looking set of albums. This looks like it's taken its cue from the excellent but unofficial/grey Sunshine Pop Pearls set, and the Fading Yellow series, which had some great tracks in not-so-great quality (by the time I got them anyway).

I'd definitely pay quality dollar for these on vinyl.

....and I'd love to see them released in a CD boxset.

You can get all 4 for around $60 shipped with the coupon code at Deepdiscount right now. I'd act fast though- this is the first time that they've had all four volumes in stock at the same time (that I've noticed).

Edit- My bad, Vol. 2 is once again on backorder. :sigh:

Thanks! This is the best deal right now - I just ordered 2 of the new ones <#1 and #2> and one of the ones from last year using that coupon. I don't care if 2 of them are back ordered.

I already have quite a few of these songs on 45s/various Lps. Several are straight from 'A Whole Lot Of Rainbows' (and other WB comps), but there are a lot of songs I don't already know that I yootoobed and liked (of course). Plus there are a few that haven't even made the internet yet (of course). Gonna make the purchase right now! Thanks misterclean

Weird that they have the same song back-to-back on the same CD performed by different artists (on the green one)

I went back to Deep Discount today before the 15% coupon expired and ordered two more. Now I have 5 of the 8 on the way, 2 of them backordered, though.

I saw them on amazon. I must check out some of the samples. I have a few US sunshine pop comps, come to the sunshine CD & RSD vinyl, hallucinations & a whole lot of rainbows. I'm more of a baroque pop fan tbh, and i'd worry that too much sugary sunshine pop would leave me in a diabetic coma.

I decided to get these one at a time. I started with Volume 3 and wow. Just, wow. It's well worth what I spent on it, which was $21 with shipping.
