I was in a local record store the other day and playing on their system was a superb album, I wrote down the title but have lost the paper.
They were sound like they were heavily influenced by Jethro Tull and were I think an eighties group. I know it's a long shot but can anyone help identify the band.

The only German band in my collection who had a Jethro Tull-type sound were Kollektiv.

    Was it something like this?

Eloy perhaps... the vocalists does a fairly good job of aping Ian Anderson' singing style.

It could be Brainticket. I have the Psychonaut album and it fits your description (although they were primarily a 70's band)

How did the cover look ? On "Desert Places" by Satin Whale is I.A Style Flute playing, Also "For all the clowns" by Sahara. But those were 70s albums.

Eloy - Inside as a Jethro Tull vibe. But not too much flute.

Yeah... "Inside" was the very one I was thinking of (in fact it's the only Eloy album I've heard).

Why not ask the staff which German progressive rock bands they might have played in-store over the past few days? There probably aren't too many.

Definitely not German. Or an 80's group.

Out Of Focus often reminds me of Jethro Tull.
