RIP Martin Eric Ain (Celtic Frost)

Posted on the official Celtic Frost Facebook page this morning. Looks like Martin passed away from a heart attack on October 21 at 50 years of age. RIP Martin. \m/

 

Hitting closer to home now. RIP.

 

Awww, damn it! Martin was the soul of Frost! This is a terrible day for underground metal for sure. R.I.P.. Martin.

Dang! RIP Martin! His bass playing was trendsetting. Groundbreaking metal albums and if you do not have Reign Of Steel Morbid Tales or To Mega Therion please do yourself a favor and listen, enjoy and MOSH!

RIP Martin Ain.

 

Kind of sad how there's only 12 posts on this all morning. He came from a revolutionary band that basically help start a new type of music.

I remember how Hellhammer was kind of considered a joke when they came out. Metal Forces ragged on them pretty hard. Then Celtic Frost came out and blew away everyone's previous expectations. Now you go back to those Hellhammer demos and you can really see how their influence is in a lot of underground metal today.

Had the pleasure of seeing Celtic Frost with Voi Vod opening in the mid-80s. Then again on the last reunion tour. Both times they were great, though the show with Voi Vod was cut short due to a "riot" (some skinheads broke into the area behind the stage and started thrashing stuff. CF then walked off the stage)
