I believe The Church are the most underrated rock band of all time.

    I'd have Billy Birmingham up there with "M A R V E L L O U S". A cultural genius in the land of the crass "Diddy" Davey Warner.

But the original members of AC/DC is australian if I'm not mistaken, now I'm not sure if Brian Johnson are australian but the rest surely were.

The Seekers. I can remember Morningtown Ride and The Carnival Is Over from way back when I was a lot younger than I am now.

Thanks I'd never heard his music before, definitely see the Dylan hipster influence there.

One night not many years ago I had the misfortune of finding myself in the insufferable company of a man who was deeply offended that I didn't know every note of Steve Kilbey's recorded output. So there's at least one person out there who thinks that he was the greatest thing ever.

This turned up in the suggested videos list while I was listening to my previous post. It sounds very '80s to me, a certain kind of guitar-pop that when slowed down turns into "shoegaze" ...

Besides the obvious choices for me -- Olivia Newton-John and the Bee Gees -- there are a number of Aussies I adore. My favorite:

    James Reyne

john lennonist There ONCE was a NOTE, PURE and EASY...

The early, rough, rockin' DiVinyls... before they devolved into wimpy "I Touch Myself" pop.

And a special shout out for the Easybeats' "Friday on my Mind"

Hoodoo Gurus!!! Dig it Up, the whole Stoneage Romeos is a stone cold classic.

I love the Divinyls. Such a cool. Band. All the records have some great songs on em. Cool guitar parts, great rock n roll songs, catchy, and great singer, with a unique cool voice. Love the Divinyls. Kind of forgotten or never was or one hit wonders. I think they are more. Cool rock n roll.

Rose Tatoo, i got turned on to them by a clerk at Aomeba Records. Awesome band. Produced by George Young. Same bar as AC/DC came out of. Somewhat similar. But, with lots of slide and just different. Rock n roll from Australias bars. Cool band. Rockin.

RiP George Young. The Easybeats were a very cool catchy memorable band. Rock on George!!!!!!!!!!!
