Hell, I'd be really happy with a stereo remix but a 5.1 mix... I'd buy a new surround set up to listen to it! The chaotic section in 'Lighthouse Keepers' has always sounded as though two channels wasn't enough to contain everything that was going on, opening that up into multichannel... That could be really great!

I'm guessing the tapes will be 8-track, hopefully they're still around and in usable condition (or at least transferred to digital!)

For me, I would want him (Steven W.) to do albums that I love that have no quality Hi-res versions. For instance, I am always up for a better Yes-Awaken, but Audio Fidelity did a pretty darn good version of it already on SACD.

Dream Theater - Images and Words
Genesis - Selling England by the Pound
Gryphon - Red Queen to Gryphon Three
    Kansas - Leftoverture
Manfred Mann's Earth Band - The Roaring Silence
    Jean-Luc Ponty - Enigmatic Ocean
    Renaissance - Ashes Are Burning

Return to Forever - Romantic Warrior
    U2 - The Joshua Tree

I could go on, but these would be at the top. Realistically, if he gets to even one of these, id consider that I beat the odds.

I'd love to see him remix 10cc's Bloody Tourists. It's a great album that unfortunately has terrible sound quality on almost every single CD release of it.

Agree (see post 137). The cheap Spectrum cd release is a marginal improvement over the original however.

Listening to the Chameleons "Script of the Bridge" (and their other albums)... Would love to hear a remix of these, there's some strange balance choices and eighties sounding quirks that slightly mar my enjoyment of those albums.

I imagine I already said this, but now that Wilson has tackled most of bit progressive mainstays, I would really like to see him try his hand at more of the art rock of the 80s, namely Peter Gabriel's third and fourth album, as well as Kate Bush's The Dreaming and Hounds of Love. I was listening to The Dreaming last night and the original stereo mix is fantastic, hard to improve on, but I would love to hear this one in 5.1. They could also include b sides, bonus tracks and videos to round out the package.

  12. 5.1 of "Spirit of Eden" would be divine.

I'd be up for lesser known prog/RIO/Canterbury such as:
    Henry Cow/Art Bears
    Amon Duul II (particularly Yeti)
early Tangerine Dream (Atem! but anything up through Rubycon I'd be happy with)
Camel (first four or five albums)
Incredible String Band (5000 Layers and Hangman's Beautiful Daughter)

He also mentioned in an interview that Massive Attack's Mezzanine would be fantastic in 5.1.

Much to my surprise, this was already remixed for 5.1. Sadly, it's out of print and hard to find.

I wish SW would do the entire Catalogs of Kate Bush & Peter Gabriel and use the nice Book Sets for each album like he had been doing for Jethro Tull's early albums. It would be the most significant purchase of prior albums I would ever make in the next 5-10 years. No idea if Bush & Gabriel would be interested though.

Yes SW has already repeatedly tried to make them let him remix some of their albums, but I got the sense talking with him it was not a definitive "no" but rather a lack of answer or a "maybe, we'll see, someday perhaps".

What's the general view on the Aqualung remix versus the original 1971 mix?

I think most people who have heard it are ecstatic about it. Personnally it's the remix I expected for years.
Some people think the remix of Locomotive Breath lost something, I don't.
