King Crimson - Greg Lake personally signed WDVE FM 102 Pgh. PA. letterhead page.
I was working in News Radio at KQV News as a college intern producing in 1983, after completing the internship I was hired as a production assistant across the hall at Pgh's number one rocker WDVE FM... I was working my shift, 12 hrs on / 12 hrs off in master control, when I came in one day, there was a note from the previous engineer, stating Greg Lake was doing a pre-concert, on-air interview with the jock, and the PD wanted me to record and produce a quick station ID promo. I had seen countless talent come and go, but when told I would be recording and working with the great Greg Lake I nearly lost my senses... a life long fan since 1969 Crimson, this was almost like saying Dylan or McCartney were coming in.
Long story short we cut our spot on to cart, and it was used for years, somewhere I have a cassette of the whole thing.. Greg
had a few tongue tied moments, but he did a great job...
"This is Greg Lake, and nobody rocks Pittsburgh like FM 102 WDVE".
Afterwards, I clearly let him know I was an absolute super fan, he talked at length, and was on his first solo tour from ELP.
He attempted to give me back stage tickets, etc.. I told him I was in the middle of a 12 hour shift, and couldn't lose my job.
So he promised me that he would leave a world wide all access backstage pass at the Hilton for me, and I could pick it up tomorrow morning at the front desk. He was very giving of his time.. and he also introduced me to his tour manager Steve
Barnett who accompanied him, we shook hands and he gave me his card.
Greg continued his legendary success until his tragic death, and the tour manager Steven.. is now CEO and head of Capitol Records.

Thanks for letting me share .. (I sure wish there were cell phones back then).

King Crimson - "The Court Of The Crimson King" U.S. Atlantic promotional 45.
The one that started it all... c., 1969.

    HOT TIP :
I just saw them Monday and Tuesday night in Atlanta, and dare I say .. after 45 years of live Crimsonizing this band
is as good as anything I have seen going back to 1972. If you get the chance on this current U.S. tour. I implore you to
go... do not miss it on your life.

Yes! Thankfully, I did see a later version of ELP in Pgh, PA. got all the way up front..
and, once again in Atlanta with Ringo's All-Starr Band.
But unfortunately, we never personally hooked up again.
It's all good... and that blooper tape is a gas!

  7. Mmmm when I joined the Poloce Fan Club they had a contest to win a signed poster. Yep, I won one. Need to get that frame one of these days.

I also used to have a John Lennon limited edition print. Wish I had bought an original (I could of afforded it at the time but it just seemed like an awful lot of money). Sadly, that got destroyed.

Another very early Capitol Records promotional item promoting Beatlemania to the max.
Early 1964, they issued there own newsprint paper.... complete with the wrong names on
the wrong photos. Originals are rare.

In the mad promotional rush of Beatlemania, the names were listed incorrectly...

@Bill Why Man Nice piece. Is it signed by the others as well? Did your Dad get it signed or was it something he came across? Either way, really nice item and a bit extra special with it being part of your Dad's collection.

CASH "The Holy Land" original 3-D lenticular LP cover , w/ sw and hype sticker. c., 1969.

This same year, Johnny would be busy in Nashville starting his own weekly TV show.
"The Johnny Cash Show" ran from 1969 - 1971, and was superb, spotlighting music guests
like Dylan, Neil Young, Joni Mitchell, and people who would never get a chance otherwise.

Here is a rare unused original promotional bumper sticker for the TV show...
