Pro-Ject Tube Box DS. Took out the stock tubes and replaced them with late 1950’s RCA long gray plate 12AX7’s.

same unit here and very happy with it. I upgraded the stock Q-PSU power supply to the Heed Obelisk PX power supply and that made a big positive difference!

iFi iPhono V1 upstairs on a Music Hall 7.1/Shure M97xe
Lounge Copla --> Lounge LCR mk III downstairs on my PolyTable/Art 9 setup*

*this SUT/pre setup will likely be changing in a big way in about a month. Just have to muster up the courage to pull the trigger.

I've been using a Dynaco SCA-50 as a phono stage for years. It has spooky synergy with my Thorens TD145/AT440MLA.

I have this one, would you consider Pro-Ject Phono Box S a significant upgrade?

No, I would not consider that to be "significant". My next prospect is the Schitt Mani for $129

I have the Audio by Van Alstine Insight +EC preamplifier with Vision phono option. The Vision Phono is also available as a standalone unit. The picture is of the AVA Insight preamp.

  21. I use an ART DJPRE II. Features variable gain up to 45 dB. Since I'm not thinking of getting a LOMC cartridge, this unit works perfectly fine for me. And the price / quality relationship is incredible.

The Lounge Copla isn't a SUT (step up transformer, I'm sure you know that already) but interested in hearing about what you may be pulling the trigger on soon. I tried to place a bid on a tube phono preamp that I really wanted this morning, but waited to the last minute (actually last 30 seconds), and I got redirected to another screen to verify my account, and didn't have enough time so missed out on a really nice score. Oh well, it'll hopefully be around again for the right price, and I really like what I have now so no biggie ... so I keep telling myself ... :)

Right you are - not an SUT but it is to the lazy typist :)

What did you try to bid on?

I'm working with Keith Herron to pick up a new VTPH-2a. My story with phono preamps is long and varied but I've come to understand that for my system and my collection, I get max enjoyment out of my analog system when it's matched properly. No disrespect whatsoever meant to the Lounge gear - and no one has any business comparing a Herron to a Lounge - but for better (my ears) or worse (my wallet), I'm afflicted.

Nice, those Herron preamps look to be pretty nice with a lot of the design features I like. I was bidding on a Conrad-Johnson Premier 15 phono preamp, went for $1375, really good deal for a $4000 preamp at the turn of the 21st century, should've been mine.
