Very sad news. Another local talent of Northwest Ohio that influenced entertainment. I met him once briefly, very kind man. R.I.P.

They were such a unique sound! And by all accounts, Jon was always a gentleman. RIP.

I remember being blown away upon first hearing Lambert Hendricks and Ross over fifty years ago. He lived a full life. RIP.

LH&R playing in my house is one of my earliest childhood musical memories. My father had some great stories about seeing them live, and I had the chance to meet Jon a few times through the years. Always a gentleman.
I think his contributions to vocal jazz are unsurpassed.

He lyricized a load of jazz classic instrumentals for Manhattan Transfer. Ray's Rockhouse. Another Night In Tunisia., the whole Vocalese album. It opened up a whole world of inspiration for them.
First thing I ever heard from Lambert, Hendricks & Ross:

He created a great show that started and ran for 5 years in San Francisco duribg the mid to late 70s called Evolution of the Blues. I think it moved on to LA afterwards. I saw it several times. .

Dang. I met him once, I was just walking by as he was standing in front of a recording studio waiting for his ride. A block from my house. Not someone you expect to just run into in the middle of Arkansas.

That recording studio burned down about 20 years ago.

Godspeed. You and your partners art made(make the world a better place) Live you can feel and hear the vocal chemistry. Listening to Mr. Hendricks sing the first verse is the epitome of cool. Also loved his turn in the movie White Men Can't Jump

I don't know John's music but he's a familiar talking head in many Jazz documentaries I've seen and he always came across as very intelligent, enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the music. RIP
