    back in the days when you would have to spin records at parties, risk your LPs getting nicked, and when things started getting rowdy, the needle skipping around on the disc, what were your party records? I always fell more on the side of rock n roll, motown and soul for these occasions, disco and top 40 radio weren't quite my speed. Chubby Checker twist party anyone?

    Deep Purple and BOC then...

    Queens of the Stone Age now...

    Why stop the parting? However digital is less fragile. :)

    Come on, for a lot of you it was Déjà Vu. Thanks, because it took me forever to find a clean copy!

    Not one of my favorite bands but Rancid's Life Won't Wait. It has a good mix of different types "rock" songs.

    This is one of my most curious subjects. I try and build a playlist for a party, and my wife loves the stereo crankin at a party. What happens when we have guests over? If somebody doesn't ask for the stereo to be turned down so everybody can hear every freakin loudmouth talk...it gets turned down on it's own, ususlly by the person sitting next to the stereo...and won't move.

    :rolleyes::realmad::crazy::rant::blah::thumbsdow:wtf::doh::cussing:

    Why are these my friends in the first place...?!

    In addition to B-52s, I loved partying to Blondie, Pretenders and Psychedelic Furs as well in the 80s.
    Actually, played all of these @ Thanksgiving dinner this year and everyone loved it.....still fresh.

    I worked with a guy who, as a university student in the 80s, said that the most sure-fire, go-to album was: Calypso - Harry Belafonte.
