Many of you know I love Jimi Hendrix's music. I saw him twice and he was and is one of my all-time greatest music heroes. So I can understand the notion of wanting to hear every note the man ever played.

Or not. Every time one of these "new Hendrix" records comes out, a lot of skepticism creeps into my thoughts.

Definitely a wait and see for me.

Bloody hell. Why not just use the Rave picture. At least we can see him properly.

The original ekta of the Rave/Jackie photo is missing AFAIK. As I said, Berkofsky had forgotten all about it when I exchanged mails with him. He told me that he struggled to make a deal with Janie & Co. a couple of years ago (for PH&A) but he turned them down. They obviously finally came to an agreement for this new release.

Well we're all digital now. Is there no scan (and tidy if needed ) to use?
At this stage of release it's probably too late anyway .

No. AFAIK, the ekta vanished long before the digital age. Perhaps it's in the archives of an old publishing house in London.
I think that all that is left are scans of the old Rave/Jackie page.

This is good news. "Valleys of Neptune" and "People Hell & Angels" each contain some stellar Jimi.

With news of the forthcoming SACDs for "Are You Experienced" and "Axis...," this announcement has me looking forward to 2018.

I'm not a Hendrix fan per se, but I have to keep buying the damn things for the Stephen Stills material.

It was the Rave I was actually referring to.

I cried on 8-18-70.For me a 18 yr old teen it was the day the music died.Jeffries began scrapping the sides of the barrel then.Of course he would eventually get the bottom. The only posthumous LPs from Jimi I care toown and are in my collection are
    1.The Cry Of Love
    2.Rainbow Bridge
    3.Hendrix In The West
    4.At Monterrey Pop-1986 LP
    5.Radio 1 -2LPs 1987
    6.Winterland 68
    7.Nine To The Universe
    8.Gloria (single)
IMO everything else is a insult to the
    mans talent and genius.Peace.

It still appears they still have not officially released many of the tracks on the original track listing for the Multicolored Blues lp that was planned and then cancelled.

I guess those are being held back for future generations after I am gone.

That has to be the worst E Hendrix release cover. Think I just buy the download and change artwork myself.

    I hope that's all. :yikes:

Someone please tell me that the track listed as Jungle isn't the Dagger track.
I mean they wouldn't put that on a mainstream cd release would they?

The puppet one from early 70's was worse.

I've never liked the nude ELL UK cover.

I've come to like the Axis cover, but it came about when Jimi asked the art director for something celebrating his "Indian"(Native Indian rather than East Indian) heritage. I could only imagine Jimi being horrified by the miscommunication result and the album having to go to print.

That artwork is awful. Somehow managed to retouch it to within an inch of it's life and make him look like somebody else!

It's in some of the books about Hendrix. I would have to dig it out.

Yes, it’s a real shame because from what I have seen on the photographer’s site, the cleaned up image (before all the enhancing/retouchind was terrific.
