Most fans would. An upgraded, expanded SUN set is long overdue.

I know they were recorded in 1970 and not 1971 but you don't think that Elvis Country/Love Letters is considered Legacy's coverage for 1971? Or maybe an expanded Elvis Now?

That is a good point, but I think there is a viable project for the 1971 Nasville sessions and 1972 Hollywood sessions. Granted, the 1971 sessions were uneven and there were signs of vocal deterioration did to increased drug use, nevertheless, some of his masters from those sessions were the best of his post-1970 output. I don't think Elvis Now is a good candidate for a standard Legacy Edition because it is a substandard album and there are some very good religious and holiday recordings from 1971 that should be given attention that are not part of Elvis Now. Something along the lines of Elvis At Stax or the recent Jungle Room release would allow for a more expansive and versatile release.

I think a comprehensive compilation of his best soundtrack recordings would be a good idea and fit the M.O. of re-shaping the public's opinion of a part of Elvis' career that is generally looked down upon. Something that goes from "Love Me Tender" thru "Change of Habit". There are a LOT of hidden gems in there.

Also a chance to do some more remixing.

There was a 2 CD compilation of movie hits from about ten years back that I never got (Elvis at the Movies), but I'd much rather have the Legacy release you suggested.

I'm guessing that it will be some sort of collection of his 1971 Nashville recordings, perhaps with the 1972 sessions included. This is the only period from the 70's that Santos hasn't gotten to (not including the On Tour material, of course). Obviously, this will disappoint those who are pining for an updated, comprehensive, Sun collection but I'm simply predicting based on the recent pattern of mainstream Elvis releases.

Yeah, "Elvis At The Movies". It sucked. It was just basically all the title cuts.

    They could highlight stuff like:
    • Young And Beautiful
    • Trouble
    • Shopping Around
    • Bossa Nova Baby
    • You're The Boss
    • Today, Tomorrow, and Forever
    • One Broken Heart For Sale
    • Puppet On A String
    • Please Don't Stop Loving Me
    • You Don't Know Me
    • Let Yourself Go
    • Clean Up Your Own Backyard
    • Little Less Conversation
    • Rubberneckin'
Plus all the obvious ones like "Jailhouse Rock", "Can't Help Falling In Love" and "Return To Sender", etc. You know, all the best movie singles, title cuts and then the hidden gems. Remix when necessary (mid-60's stuff for example where Elvis is 10 times louder than the band).

Agreed. the set was remastered by Vic Anesini. The sound was good, but there were songs not included that should have been. Plus, I think they might have found better sources for some songs that were used on later releases. It could be bettered in my opinion.

They should have reissued A Boy From Tupelo ages ago. It goes for hundreds.

I don't think a repressing of the book is in the works. The audio was under considering a few years ago, but Sony went with Elvis At Stax in its place.

Wasnt the sound marred by noise reduction on some of that set?

I don't have any new information but was enjoying some Elvis Legacy material the other day and figured I'd bump this thread just to keep the fun going. Just reading the last page it seems most of us are ready for a Legacy Sun Sessions release.

Just to renew this old thread and it's feeling like it's about that time of year when we will get a new Elvis Legacy release. So, what's everyone best guess for 2017's entry?
My guess is a definitive Sun sessions or yet another '70s themed release.

Unfortunately, yes, probably another 70s themed release. The only one I can think of that I would welcome is Elvis On Tour. But I would like to see another two-fer: For LP Fans Only/A Date With Elvis which would satisfy the Sun scenario plus.

A nice Legacy release of the Sun material would be my wish.

I missed out on the big FTD "Boy From Tupelo" set, so I hope they do something that pleases die-hards and casual fans.

Orchestrated version of the 10 Sun sides each featuring a duet with a different current Bro-country star.

50 year anniversary of the Comeback Special.
60 year anniversary of going into the Army.
55th anniversary of Viva Las Vegas.

I can't think of anything else that would be somewhat significant in terms of anniversaries.

I mean, it is really time to do something with Elvis On Tour.
