While I have a lot of time for parts of Yes' output (Drama, Yes Album and Fragile to name but three), this is more like offput(ing)
A month and a dozen of days before our dear band from San Francisco hit New York before leaving to Europe, the Crimsons visited the Academy of Music. As this recording was done in a cassette, the quality is not top-notch, but it's still much better than what ended on Earthbound. I'm loving this new box set. (As you can see, @BurtThomasWard, I have it now).
new to it. I've given it about 5 listens or so since I took a chance on it, hoping it would do something for me. It has not.
Re: D I Y Yeah, none of the bands/musicians on this set are famous except for the Buzzcocks, Throbbing Gristle, and Scritti Politti. However, the music on the compilation is endlessly creative and engaging. It's a solid listen. It makes a good argument for independent music, free from the commercial concerns of a major label. There's a mixture of punk-sounding tracks, art-rock, mutant-disco dance grooves, proto-electronica, and even a spoken-word folk tune.
