We don't have reserved seating, but we don't have to wait outside either. We're also going to the first showing Thursday night so we don't have to hear spoilers from people coming out.

Are theaters without assigned seats still commonplace in the US/EU/UK? They did exist here in my hometown up until a few years ago and the long lines were terrible indeed. Now you can buy your tickets in advance and choose your seats, either online or at the theater (where you'll find machines that accept cards only and employees at counters that accept cash and cards).
I went there earlier this week and was able to see seating maps for all upcoming Star Wars showings. Thursday and Friday no longer had center seats, so I got great ones for Saturday. Looking forward to watching it!

I really am in awe of how bad this all sounds, while the execution of it on film may be great the whole idea of some of these choices makes me mad.Why make snoke so disposable or how Luke's fate could have been a 1000 different ways more respectful or less hokey at least,or how about letting the guy have a happy old age with his daughter Rey?Anyway they make the big bucks not me or the million other fanboys ,maybe how it plays out on film will be great, most reviews seem very positive.

I'd say it's about 50/50 at this point with theaters in the USA having reserved seats or not.

We saw Return of the Jedi at a charity event screening the day before it opened to the public, and as we drove away, I noted there were hundreds of people standing in line (at about 10PM) to get into the movie in the morning. I wanted dearly to roll down the window and yell, "Leia is Luke's sister! Vader kills the Emperor and dies at the end!", but I didn't.

And here's what the Premiere Screening pass looked like...

(From a friend of mine at Fotokem, who handled a lot of the post work.)

I've stayed away from reviews, but I have read headlines that say that "many mysteries are revealed and a significant 'parentage' is disclosed."

Just got my tickets for tomorrow. Only good seats left were a 3D showing, which is fine with me as I love 3D. I hope everything is calibrated for tomorrow!

You should watch the film rather then read spoilers from a holes on the internet, The film is fantastic and Luke is done very well also Luke isn't her father.

I think it's amazing. The sword fighting was incredible, the symbolism is subtle and the challenges are more psychological.

    The film is incredibly funny too. I heard two people walk out of the theatre saying the following;
P1: So, what did you think?
P2: The film was way too humorous in places. The originals were never that funny.
Me: What the **** are you talking about? The originals were hilarious! (Thinking, not saying).

Just got out of a screening in Australia. I think audience opinion will be divided into those who like the film because it subverts some established tropes that have been used in previous Star Wars films, while at the same time, there will be those who dislike it because it strays too far from expectations of what a Star Wars film should be. I’d say both are valid points, and it’s going to come down to how you feel personally.

It's good, way better than The Force Awakens, but there's weird moments like LEIA FLYING IN SPACE LIKE A SUPERMAN??
Yoda cameo is awesome, Snoke is...meh, I love Luke (and the leaf scene hahaha), I loved Poe in this movie (I used to hate him, but he's very good in this movie), Finn is...useless but I liked his "relationship" with Rose, it's more creative than TFA in terms of planets (yeah there's only three planets, including Ach-To but nice work I love the red rock of Crait) and of creatures species (not a lot of CGI, or mixes between puppets and CGI which works well), Phasma is as useless as in TFA, Benecio Del Toro character is useless (lot of useless characters in fact) and Porgs are...cool, really they are not annoying that's a good point. Snoke death is a disappointment, not precisely his death but the fact that we won't know anything about him; who he is? How did he turned Ben to the dark side? Why he has the force? How Luke knows him?
Oh, and Mark Hamill deserve an Oscar

  22. The Hermit

The Hermit Wavin' that magick glowstick since 1976

An entertaining film it may be, but it adds nothing to - and even betrays - parts of the established mythology, none of the characters' arcs bring anything of substance to the table (Kylo Ren is basically playing out the arc and performance that Anakin should have got for the prequels!), there's too many characters and some inevitably get short-changed, the running time is far too long, the CGI still looks like CGI (whilst the 'primitive' model shots of the OT still look both great and absolutely photo-realistic decades later!), the supposed 'big bad' Snoke is killed off without us learning anything about him or even caring that he's now kaput, the constant humor is often misplaced throughout, the whole film basically plays out like a remixed Empire Strikes Back... only in reverse... and not nearly as good.

Other than all that... yeah, it's okay... I guess. Mark Hamill's performance is very good though.

I always said this film would decide for me if the Sequel Trilogy (and the rejuvenation of the franchise as a whole) was worth it... was there a story of substance to be told?

And my answer on both questions is a resounding NO... to paraphrase a line from the new film; "kill this franchise, let it die".

The OT was a perfect three-act story that had a proper and definitive ending... if only George had left it there, alas.

But I guess if you're in the money business not the movie business - as Disney clearly is - why leave all that lovely moolah on the table, right?

Double bill last night in Liverpool, Force Awakens followed by Last Jedi at midnight. Liked it, didn’t love it.Seeing it again on Saturday morning with the family.

Loved everything about Luke and his story, and therefore Rey. The whole casino venture left me cold and added next to nothing to the film; is it me or could everyone seemingly come and go from the main cruiser at will? In which case what was the big deal about everyone staying with it? Not to mention if everyone leaves and the cruiser can then be used as a battering ram, why doesn’t this occur to anyone much earlier in the film? And serious nerd point: the Empire tracks the Falcon from the Death Star through hyperspace to Yavin IV in the original Star Wars, so why is this a problem now?

Space Leia was a real WTF moment, and again, to what end? To show she’s force sensitive? Turns out she’s practically super human. Carrie though was wonderful, with real life circumstances bringing a level of poignancy to her scenes, especially with Mark Hamil.

The Rey/Ren exchanges were wonderful as was their fight against Snoke’s guard, the fight bringing a ripple of applause and cheers at the screening I was at. Not sure as to what the point of Snoke was as he seems to have been disposed on with nothing more to define him other than some CG and a growly Serkis voice. Ren and Hux aside, what is to stop the First Order simply falling apart at this point?

The walker/speeder/Luke/Ren battle was very well done, no complaints there. And by the end of the film, everyone seems quite happy and reunited. Snoke is dead. There was little sense of the stakes having been raised and the odds of success worsened a la Empire. Even Attack of the Clones, for all of it’s faults, managed to impart a sense of matters worsening and spiralling downwards in its final shots. The Last Jedi appears to conclude the story begun with The Force Awakens.

The film finished around 2.55am so my opinions may well be tempered by tiredness, so I’m hoping a second viewing on Saturday might help foster a more positive view. John WIlliams score was, as ever, quite wonderful; so looking forward on the soundtrack album’s release tomorrow.

Leia does not fly through space like Superman. She is floating in the void of space and uses the force to pull herself back into the ship in what is frankly a very powerful moment.

T-Minus three hours. For those of you seeing it in 3-D (and perhaps for those who have problems with watching 3D), hulere's a very helpful watching tip for viewing 3D, which I myself was not aware of. One should try to keep one's hehad LEVEL when watching a 3D movie.

    Linearly polarized glasses[edit]
To present a stereoscopic motion picture, two images are projected superimposed onto the same screen through orthogonalpolarizing filters (Usually at 45 and 135 degrees).[1] The viewer wears linearly polarized eyeglasses which also contain a pair of orthogonal polarizing filters oriented the same as the projector. As each filter only passes light which is similarly polarized and blocks the orthogonally polarized light, each eye only sees one of the projected images, and the 3D effect is achieved. Linearly polarized glasses require the viewer to keep his or her head level, as tilting of the viewing filters will cause the images of the left and right channels to bleed over to the opposite channel. This can make prolonged viewing uncomfortable as head movement is limited to maintain the 3D effect.
