I had my eye on the Sony 43W750E LCD TV(1080p) since it was announced last Winter. I see it is Available in Asia now but hasn’t been released in the US. Is Sony still releasing 2017 Models in the US or am I out of luck?
I can't definitively answer your question. I thought all new TV models are 4K, not 1080p. However, Sony's USA site does show some 1080p LED (not LCD) models. See the bottom of this page: Televisions | Smart TVs, 4K and Flat Screen LED TVs | Sony US
Thanks, the W750E was described as Sony’s top of the line LCD including X Reality Pro Processor and Triluminos color display. And at 43” a good fit For my TV room( I only sit 10’ from my TV). Any other recommendations for a high quality TV in the 37-43” range?
I gave up and went with the 55" LG OLED. I moved the room around and crammed a 55" to replace the 42" Panasonic plasma that used to be there. I made it work, but it's a very tight squeeze.
This is often a point of confusion for consumers (deliberately perpetrated by marketing). There are no LED displays, they are all LCD (except of course for OLEDs, which are a completely different technology). When you see a TV advertised as LED, what it means is that instead of using a CCFL (fluorescent) backlight, they use LEDs for backlighting, but the panel itself is still an LCD panel. TVs in such smaller size ranges are an endangered species. High quality panels these days start from around 50-55" and up.
It is weird how almost every consumer set under 50" is kind of a piece of crap. There are certainly mastering displays that are only 30", but for some reason a decision got made that all the decent 4K OLED models start at 55". Maybe when the market is saturated, they might eventually allow a 40" or 50" model.
