Really don't understand HOW and WHY some get chosen and others don't. I can understand some of the lesser touring members getting overlooked, but both Hal Lindes and Terry Williams were essential parts of the recording unit for a while. Williams was on BIA for heavens sake and played 'that' drum intro to Money For Nothing...
I know it's a long drawn out discussion, but when The Eagles were inducted - they were ALL inducted ! Am I missing something ?

  3. Assuming the bands will all play and figuring that they will all want to play crowd-pleasers, here's the basic lineup:

Bon Jovi: "Wanted Dead or Alive", "Livin' on a Prayer"
The Cars: "Just What I Needed", "Good Times Roll"
Dire Straits: "Money for Nothing", "Sultans of Swing"
The Moody Blues: "I'm Just a Singer in a Rock 'n' Roll Band", "Question"
There will be a tribute singer for Nina Simone singing "Sugar in My Bowl"

With no disrespect to this year's nominees, hopefully next year's nominees won't be so Clear Channel-centric.

The class of 2018 is upsetting because the Zombies missed out for the third time. Just let them in already.

I'm glad to see the Moodies getting in, even if it's a bit late. Many of my favorite Moodies tracks - the ones I'd like them to play - would be deep cuts that they will not play. The standard is three big hits/signature tunes (two if they're long, viz. Yes).

I wonder if they'll do what R.E.M. did, and stick to songs recorded while the classic five were all still in the band. If they go career-spanning, maybe they'll throw in one from Long Distance Voyager. "Nights in White Satin" is a virtual certainty. I also think it would be apropos to conclude with "I'm Just a Singer (in a Rock and Roll Band)," partly because it's a staple of theirs and also because it puts the whole Hall of Fame thing in perspective. "Thanks for the honor, but let's not kid ourselves. We sing and play instruments in a culture that happens to put a disproportionately high value on those skills."

    Now, as for Dire Straits...

    Really hope no!

I understand these are truly "Greatest Hits of Greatest Hits" songs, but it would be cool to hear something more unexpected

Is Denny Laine going to be inducted with the Moody's? On his facebook page he was congratulated on being inducted...but I haven't seen that he is going in. To me he needs to be in with the rest of the Moody's...he was a founding member.

Bon Jovi: “Raise Your Hands” with a cameo by Spaceballs
The Cars: “Magic” because its one of the greatest rock songs ever
Dire Straits: “Money For Nothing” but ONLY if they perform the infamous third verse as originally recorded and don’t puss out
Moody Blues: “Wildest Dreams” but ONLY if that girl from the video attends this show and finally reconnects with that guy

I think in the Ric rolling stone interview he speculated on what might be played and Drive was one mention as a possibility along with Just What I Needed.

Interesting and hope Denny's included in, most likely not singing with them on stage though.

Is Mark Knoplfer going to show? Patch things up?
Always some drama in these HOF ceremonies.
Think its fair that Denny Laine got the nod as he did co-found the band. Think the hall felt that he was skipped over the Paul induction, sans Wings.
    Ouch.
    Will "Go Now" be played?
If Pinder shows maybe. Don't know how the other guys would feel about that.
May not fall in the Drama Department, but interesting development.

I think it would be appropriate for Sting to induct the Dire Straits.
Jeff Lynne should induct the Moodies.
Little Steven should induct Bon Jovi in a show of Jersey unity.
And Rick Nielsen should induct the Cars.

What about Clint Hardwick? He was there the exact same time as Denny. Oh wait, we're pulling another Nick Simper again, aren't we?

The decision of which band members "deserve" inclusion seems to be different for every band. Not including Terry Williams seems strange, I agree, considering they are including Guy Fletcher and Alan Clark. I was disappointed the hall didn't recognize Eric Carr when Kiss was inducted...but the hall seems to enjoy the publicity of these debates.
