One of the hooks has come away from its clasp on the main window's curtain rail. Up you go. Merry Xmas.
Finally... finally installed a drop ceiling in my office/audio room. Sits at about 7.5' (which is where I wanted it in this room since even though we have 9' ceilings in the basement, there's a large HVAC run in this room and I didn't want a stepped ceiling. From very rough tests before/after on the same track, my SPL meter indicates I gained about 3 dB in the room and lost about 3 dB in the room above it (happens to be our bedroom) so very worthwhile. It definitely sounds different. Initial impressions are that it did no harm and pushes up the lower midrange/midbass area just a little bit from having an exposed ceiling prior. Oh and while I was at it, I "customized" that lamp in the corner. Hard to show in a picture but hopefully you can see what's in there (not the specific titles, these were just throwaway albums):
Excuse for the OT but I love basements. Grew up in a house with a basement. Both houses I've purchased have a basement. Basements are for Boyz!
