The two albums that have lived in my CD player since they came out this year are Little Steven's Soulfire and Garland Jeffreys' 14 Steps To Harlem. I think they're going to be there all summer!

  5. fmfxray373

fmfxray373 Capitol LPs in the 70s were pretty good.

Extra Texture by George Harrison. Actually bought it in the late 70s and for some reason didn't give it a chance. Far from perfect but I think it is a fine listen today.
    King Of Limbs by Radiohead.

I find myself liking the album die hard founds usually hate, like Load.

I know that when the new 'War on Drugs' Album comes out later this year, I'll play the hell out of that.

I've been varying it up so much this year that I haven't played any album more than twice, and only a handful at that. I think I average about 10 albums per week, give or take. I know all this because I keep a journal of which albums I listen to :righton:

I had never heard of Luna before this year. I've been listening over and over to the box set of their first five albums, plus rarities.

Yea, what a great string of records by one of my favorite bands. One of the first posts I made around here was about Bewitched, but you can probably guess how far that went back in 2004 :)

I've played this so many times now it seems like part of my DNA

I skipped the box since I already had some of them on vinyl, but did pick up a copy of the RSD Penthouse a few months ago, never had it on vinyl before. Beautiful record.

Ha! Just read that great post from yesteryear, Davey. Wish I had paid more attention at the time. :agree:

Penthouse is my current fave, but I love Pup Tent and Bewitched, also. Hell, I love em all, really.

I'm a longtime Feelies fan, and I love Submarine Bells by the Chills, too. I wish I had stumbled across these guys back in the '90s, but discovering a band like Luna is part of what makes this place so much damn fun.

Here's one of my favorites, for anyone else who's interested:

Yea, that's a great song, probably my favorite too, both of the songs with Tom Verlaine are kind of the standouts, but I love the whole record too, especially the Bonnie & Clyde cover with Lætitia Sadier.

That's Easy: Easter Everywhere. I just discovered this a month ago and can't stop listening to it. Slip Inside This House is just killer. In my top 10 all time favorite LPs already. And I swore off drugs many years ago!

Speaking of drugs, and tangentially related, years back there was an Oneida tribute series titled "Sheets of Easter Everywhere", where various bands remixed or reworked or rerecorded Oneida's "Sheets of Easter" song.

I always feel high by the halfway mark of this song blasting through my headphones:

Not sure if it counts as an album but the Pink Floyd Dramatis/ation set is my top played CD set for 2017.

It is already Cheap Trick We're All Alright! Deep Purple Infinite & Metallica Hardwired also remain within quick reach and still get regular rotations.

The wonderful Sgt Pepper's remix for starters. And in my opinion it was the release of the year. It was a semi-significant album that a few people might have heard of. Did everyone know that this past year marked its 50th birthday? It seems to not had any talk... :uhhuh:

    - Billion Dollar Babies: Alice Cooper
    - One Of These Nights: The Eagles
    - Kind Of Blue: Miles Davis
    - Beggar's Banquet: The Rolling Stones
    - A Very She & Him Christmas: She & Him
    - That's The Way It Is: Elvis Presley

Those are all albums that I know I played probably a minimum of 4 times the past year.
