Steve is gonna expand everyone's horizon by bringing skilled mastering to extreme metal. First up: Mayhem.

Now if you'd said" A monosyllabic recollection by a well-known artist" I'd be thinking perhaps Van Morrison's autobiography as a talking book.

Mayhem ??? De Mysteriis Dom Sathanas for example is a perfect production for that kind of music I think.

It was a joke. Mayhem is probably the last band Steve would work with, what with the murder and suicide and arson and all.

In a crazed one man crusade, Michael Fremer has finally convinced EMI to re-do the Beatles stereo box set in analog and threw in the condition that Steve Hoffman and Kevin Gray do the mastering! Fremer has been banned from visiting EMI offices in the future, but feels it is worth the sacrifice.

I would totally buy a 4 CD expanded release of this. There are unofficial followup volumes to this album, believe it or not.

Yeah, I got a few of them, and they are epic. Another good boot is "Cut Me And I Bleed". Hilarious stuff.

I'd love it more if modern bands had a chat with you. I know 2 local band who've just recorded their first albums and they were shocked to hear what it sounds like, cr@p, on a decent system.

My problems with this album have never been from a basic conceptual standpoint, as Elvis was often very funny on stage at his prime, and a well put together "best of" album of humorous moments and songs might have done well. However, the sole existence of this album was so that Colonel Tom Parker could make money directly from his own record label, skirting around the sale of Elvis' pre-1973 catalog to RCA, and the final product is sloppily put together, with the necessity of it being a "talking album" meaning that many of the jokes were completely out of context and made Elvis out to look like a fool. Ironically RCA later got the rights to this album and sold it as a main label release before Elvis demanded them to cease it's production.
