Muddy Waters - The Real Folk Blues I play this mostly for the 1940's sessions (all of it is great, just the rest I knew already) with just bass and Muddy on slide. Some of my favorite stuff by Muddy Waters.
I always thought he was one of the very best at many things. If I only heard the audio, someone would have to have told me. Wow!
I love Chicken Shack and have most of those early records to.They were a really great band and you could get past Stan Webbs vocals He was a great guitarist though and very under-rated. These records do show what a great blues singer and piano player Christine McVie was. Always loved this song with Walter Horton on harp If someone isn't familiar with the band,or just want more of their recordings, this is a great collection and at a bargain price.
Don’t know if it is blues but a friend of mine turned me on to Miles Davies Kind Of Blue excellent LP
I assume you're joking. BTW, for this and some other titles posted, just because an album has "Blues" in the title doesn't mean it belongs in this thread.
Rev Gary Davis {Harlem Street Singer} Friend lent me a great doc on Gary. Such an interesting guy. Lots of students in NY who took lessons from him for 5 bucks each.
I know it’s jazz but has a blues kind of feel just did not where to post good LP though new to this kind of music
There's a good thread called something like "Listening to Jazz and Conversation" that would be perfect for discussion of that record. Welcome to the wonderful world of Miles Davis.
To be fair, Freddie Freeloader is a twelve bar blues, and All Blues is a twelve bar blues in 6/8 time . . . but it's not what people usually think of as a "blues album".
Yes indeed. He wasn't in my area so I travelled 600 miles to see him. Worth every mile. Great musician and a wonderful person.
This is not the original UK cover BTW. I guess Epic thought it was not appropriate for the US public. The original looks like this:
Just found the whole album “40 Blue Fingers, Freshly Packed and Ready to Serve” on YouTube. Stan Webb’s vocals are not as cringeworthy as they are said to be. He has a beautiful guitar tone and does not play as formulaic as some other white Blues scholars of his time.
